My Mood: | Some WotG Questions...
So, I'm RDM 33 and the hubs is WHM30 and we want to go back to the past to unlock SCH and DNC, I gots some questiunz~ Maws - OK, the first time we use a Maw it will take us to one of three places (Sarumouge (S), Rolanberry (S) or Battalia (S) - from which we can then make our way to wherever it is we need to go - and then the wiki sez to be sure to unlock more maws in the past before you come back to the present - lolwut? How? I thought unlocking meant going through and if you go through one in the past it brings you to the present. Wut am I missing? I was reading in Bbqkittens "By the level" thread and saw that people are leveling jobs in the past in areas where they are facing appropriately leveled mobs, but when I look at the various listings for mobs they invariably show ranges that could be a bit dangerous (not that I wouldn't expect the middle of the war to be, ahem, a bit more dangerous than the present "Peactime"). Is it Sneak/Invis time, or just being cautious is enough. Finally, I don't really want to do the WotG missions yet, as 33 is my highest job, and I've not finished the previous expansions yet (No Sea or Sky either) is it still doable to get SCH and DNC in that case? Thankses in advances

As far as levelling goes I have no idea because I have never, ever seen a single person do XP parties in WotG areas with a standard, non-PL party. SCH and DNC you can unlock without too much hassle. Just make sure you know what you're doing with Sneak and Invisible. You don't need to progress with missions to unlock them. | |

Yeah, the only reason it's a significant caveat is that there are other ways to leave the past (Warp/Teleport) in which case getting back might be tricky. When you complete WotG Mission 1 CS, you will be randomly deposited near the Cavernous Maw in either Batallia Downs [s], Rolanberry Fields [s], or Sauromugue Champaign [s]. Whichever maw you appeared at is already unlocked, and if you got knocked out of the past unexpectedly due to death, etc. it's where you'd have to go to get back. The catch is that the Cavernous Maw in Sauromugue Champaign is in the same general area as the Stone Monument: to get there in the present requires a Gate Breach party capable of getting you past Banishing Gates #1 and #3 in Garlaige Citadel. That can be a rather onerous requirement for some, so if you are deposited in Sauromugue Champaign [s], your first priority should be making your way to the Cavernous Maw in Rolanberry Fields [s] to unlock it. If you have Sneak and Invis, you're pretty much set, there's not a whole lot different from making the trip from the present. Be aware that Goblins and Goobbues will aggro 75s, and if you run into Gnats, Yagudo, or Quadav (other than Quadav/Yagudo Guard/Transporter or campaign mobs on the move), you're going the wrong way. If you don't, the first thing you should do is head southwest to the eastern entrance to Garlaige Citadel [s]. Cutting through GCS lets you safely avoid a Goblin that's basically the only aggressive mob on the way to RFS. You can also pick up a recommendation letter for San d'Oria and a map of Vunkerl Inlet [s] here if you'd like, just be careful to stay out of the unfinished areas of the citadel as there are aggressive mobs in the deeper parts. Basically, you can head through hallways from behind Gate #3 all the way to the hallway that leads to the stairs to the basement. At this point, you can reach the western entrance to GC the same way as if you were coming back up from the basement. From GCS western entrance, head north all the way to the zoneline; unlike the present, there's no raptors, cockatrices, or weapons to aggro you along this path. In Rolanberry Fields [s]. once you go through (or over) the wall to the south, head west by southwest. After the second gate, watch out for goblins (rare) and Goobbue (common) and head west until you reach the Maw.

The main reason that I can guess the spoiler tells you to do this is to avoid the situation I am in. When the expantion came out on day one I rushed over to the past to unlock DNC, I got spit out in Sauromugue Champaign [s]. Well at that time I was unable to find out how the maws worked exactly. On my way to Rolanberry Fields [s] I died or warped to avoid dieing or something. Suffice it to say I ended up in the future again. Well its been however long since WoTG has been release and I finally decide that I'm ready to go check it out. I figure im level 58 shouldent be a problem. Well needless to say I couldn't bribe 3 people at 10k a pop to come help me gate breach #3. I am able to sneak and invis people as i subbed RDM for that specific task. Anyhow, to make a long story short. I cant get back to the past at the moment. Yet a person who unlocked Rolanberry Fields [s] could take a level 1 job and get back to the past by themselves. :S

The Tractor spell will teleport the KO'd body to the Blm's location.

More detailed answer: They start up there. Past GC is fully repaired. You don't need 4 people to open the banishing gates, you can just go down the now intact hallways and go around them. All they have to do is get into the past version of Sauromogue Champaign and go through Garliage to the exit nearest the Maw, then take the Maw into the present. Really, one BLM or one WHM/BLM should be able to take care of you by himself. Also, buy a dozen cheap flowers, (I like Carnations), in Jeuno before you leave. By the 2nd banishing gate in GC[s] is a glowing spot and a Lycopodium. Inspect it in the past then visit that spot in the present, and you can trade a carnation to move past the gate in the present. Same deal with the ramp in Battalia Downs [s] and the ramp in North Gustaberg [s] which only exist in the past versions. Quick ways to Glacier or through NG. |

No, just that for people with WotG access it's now trivial to get up there via Rolanberry Fields > Rolanberry Fields [s] > Sauromugue Champaign [s] > Garlaige Citadel [s] > Sauromugue Champaign [s] > Sauromugue Champaign.

Well, last night I figured id just head over and wait by the gate and see if anyone else came through. I was fortunate enough to get there just behind a group of what appeared to be 70ish chars and they ran all the way to gate 3 so i was able to get through. I was then very careful and made it to rolenberry fields. I ended up dieing twice on my 59 blue trying to venture over to southern sandy (s) so i switched to dancer (26). I figured well its got sneak/invis (which is a freaking joke at that level... lasts for maybe 30 seconds lol) but i figure if i died on my dancer i wouldn't care about the 400 xp loss vs the 1.5k on my blue. Anyhow as fate would have it i of course dident die after the change (which i attribute to the fact that i wouldn't have cared if i died) and was unable to unlock batallia downs rollenberry fields, jugner forest (which is a horrific maze), and east ronfureru. (yea sorry i cant spell the zone names too well.. but i think i got them close enough to be understandable. I also completed the quest to become a member of the iron rams, GO RAMS! . All as a 26 Dnc. So I would say as long as your cautious you shouldent have many problems at the lower levels. One thing I would highly recommend would be that any time you go through a zone that has a maw, go unlock it even if its out of the way like jugner forest for example, plus the bright side is that you can the recall telepoint while on your way to get your maw in jugner. I then Switched back to Blu and was able to sneak in 2 campaigns real fast before bed. The first one was really easy (was in east ronfarurue) and i ended up getting 250 xp for it heh.... then the 2nd one i got in was in jugner and lasted about an hour. I got about 1250xp for that one but also died at some point. I dont think it was supposed to last that long but we wiped... there was this HUGE orc chain casting tier 3/4 aga spells, and head butt does have a reuse timer >.< even with refueling hehe. we ended up kyting him for probally 15-20 minutes while everyone got raised and let weakness wear. It was a blast. I dident mind dieing especially since in campaign you dont loose any xp for it. I think i may become addicted to campaign for a while... i know it wasent the best xp but it was FUN! Long story short, I just wanted to let you all know i'm no longer stuck with sauroman champaign only. |
