So, I'm RDM 33 and the hubs is WHM30 and we want to go back to the past to unlock SCH and DNC,
I gots some questiunz~
Maws - OK, the first time we use a Maw it will take us to one of three places (Sarumouge (S), Rolanberry (S) or Battalia (S) - from which we can then make our way to wherever it is we need to go - and then the wiki sez to be sure to unlock more maws in the past before you come back to the present - lolwut? How? I thought unlocking meant going through and if you go through one in the past it brings you to the present. Wut am I missing?
I was reading in Bbqkittens "By the level" thread and saw that people are leveling jobs in the past in areas where they are facing appropriately leveled mobs, but when I look at the various listings for mobs they invariably show ranges that could be a bit dangerous (not that I wouldn't expect the middle of the war to be, ahem, a bit more dangerous than the present "Peactime"). Is it Sneak/Invis time, or just being cautious is enough.
Finally, I don't really want to do the WotG missions yet, as 33 is my highest job, and I've not finished the previous expansions yet (No Sea or Sky either) is it still doable to get SCH and DNC in that case?
Thankses in advances

Thankses in advances | Correct, you unlock Maws by travelling through them from the past to the present. The first time we use a maw from the present to the past, it will be unlocked from then on, but all other maws will need to be entered from the past before you can use them. If that doesn't make sense, maybe I can clarify. The first ever time you use a maw near Jeuno, it will start the WotG storyline and put you in either Rolanberry [s], Sauromugue [s] or Battalia [s]. You have to go through a maw to get back to the present, right? The one you choose to return by will then be unlocked and you can use it freely. After that, if you were to travel to say Ronfaure [s] and use the maw there to get back to the present, you can then use the maw in Ronfaure (present) to zone into Ronfaure [s].
As far as levelling goes I have no idea because I have never, ever seen a single person do XP parties in WotG areas with a standard, non-PL party.
SCH and DNC you can unlock without too much hassle. Just make sure you know what you're doing with Sneak and Invisible. You don't need to progress with missions to unlock them. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | The following user says "Thank You" to Feenicks for above post: | | | 07-23-2008, 09:53 AM | #3 (permalink) | | Knowledge Vending Machine Join Date: Sep 2005 Location: Bastok Mines Posts: 679 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 107 Thanked 83x in 50 Posts Gil: 4,137 Bank: 30,274 Total Gil: 34,411 Donate | Re: Some WotG Questions... Yeah, the only reason it's a significant caveat is that there are other ways to leave the past (Warp/Teleport) in which case getting back might be tricky.
When you complete WotG Mission 1 CS, you will be randomly deposited near the Cavernous Maw in either Batallia Downs [s], Rolanberry Fields [s], or Sauromugue Champaign [s]. Whichever maw you appeared at is already unlocked, and if you got knocked out of the past unexpectedly due to death, etc. it's where you'd have to go to get back.
The catch is that the Cavernous Maw in Sauromugue Champaign is in the same general area as the Stone Monument: to get there in the present requires a Gate Breach party capable of getting you past Banishing Gates #1 and #3 in Garlaige Citadel. That can be a rather onerous requirement for some, so if you are deposited in Sauromugue Champaign [s], your first priority should be making your way to the Cavernous Maw in Rolanberry Fields [s] to unlock it.
If you have Sneak and Invis, you're pretty much set, there's not a whole lot different from making the trip from the present. Be aware that Goblins and Goobbues will aggro 75s, and if you run into Gnats, Yagudo, or Quadav (other than Quadav/Yagudo Guard/Transporter or campaign mobs on the move), you're going the wrong way.
If you don't, the first thing you should do is head southwest to the eastern entrance to Garlaige Citadel [s]. Cutting through GCS lets you safely avoid a Goblin that's basically the only aggressive mob on the way to RFS. You can also pick up a recommendation letter for San d'Oria and a map of Vunkerl Inlet [s] here if you'd like, just be careful to stay out of the unfinished areas of the citadel as there are aggressive mobs in the deeper parts. Basically, you can head through hallways from behind Gate #3 all the way to the hallway that leads to the stairs to the basement. At this point, you can reach the western entrance to GC the same way as if you were coming back up from the basement.
From GCS western entrance, head north all the way to the zoneline; unlike the present, there's no raptors, cockatrices, or weapons to aggro you along this path.
In Rolanberry Fields [s]. once you go through (or over) the wall to the south, head west by southwest. After the second gate, watch out for goblins (rare) and Goobbue (common) and head west until you reach the Maw. Kumei, pickpocket of Midgardsormr (Bastok, Rank 8)
