Dynamis Reilc Armor & Treasure Hunter
At the recent Altana Festival in Osaka, Japan, a audience Q&A session revealed a useful fact about the Treasure Hunter job trait, and about relic armor drops in Dynamis:
Quote:
Q: Do multiple instances of Treasure Hunter in a single party increase the chances of a drop? When exactly does the effect of Treasure Hunter take place?
A: When more than one member has Treasure Hunter, the player with the strongest version will have theirs take effect for the party. The effect comes into play as soon as the Thief generates enmity from the target enemy. Even if the Thief dies, the effect remains.

Q: Why are the drop rates in Dynamis-Xarcabard and Dynamis-Tavnazia so horrible?
A: The drop rates are not different than any other nation's Dynamis. Since there are less enemies to defeat, it makes it appear as if the drop rate is that much worse.
The first answer is a huge revelation to many players, and helps clear up questions raised about how TH works in general. We already knew that when a Thief hits a mob, TH is activated and the chance of rare drops goes up. However, in a group environment it was unclear how multiple instances of TH worked. It was believe that simply having a Thief in the party or alliance increased drop rates. It was also believed that multiple instances of TH stacked. Both these theories are disproven.

The second answer I found a bit unexpected. I thought the number of mobs in each zone was roughly the same - but that they were spread out over a wider area in Xarcabard and Glacier and are harder to kill so it seems like you're doing more work for less reward.

Dynamis is a particularly unique environment for drops because the treasure pool is shared among all participants, not just the individual alliances. Therefore it stands to reason that a group could try the following two plans to increase the number of overall drops per Dynamis run:

1) The Thief with the highest total TH trait needs to hit each and every mob at least once. This works because of the open treasure pool.
2) A Thief needs to be present in each and every party within your group, if possible.

Anyways, on to practicality. Last night we did a Xarc run. Before this run, we were averaging exactly one armor piece per run (and that includes a run where we got 3 100v and a Shadow Mantle as the ONLY armor drop). We also had the fortunate timing of a full moon during the entire run.

I went with plan #2. Normally I have two THFs in my puller group, and 1-2 in each alliance, but this run I had plenty of THFs so I spread them out - each of our 7 parties, except the BLM group, had a THF with Thief's Knife.

We got three relic drops - WAR, DRK and WHM - and no 100v. Not bad at all!

I'll need to do further testing during our other runs to see if this method works better than what I was doing before. If anyone else wants to share their experience, go right ahead.

Re: Dynamis Reilc Armor & Treasure Hunter
Last night in Jueno, we gotten mnk, rdm, thf and drg drops. No hundred pieces, and not that much on currency, but relic more or less the same. Normally I don't do anything to the mobs other than pull them, but after hearing what SE stated on it, I've occassionally used mug, steal, wiffed RA at the called mobs. Then TA Dancing edge one mob, which lol, dropped thf feet. The first mob I used Steal on dropped mnk hands, then a war/thf died from doing SA steel cyclone, mob that killed him dropped rdm, at least within the time frame, I was kind of focused on counting mobs at camp before making the next pull. So it may, I'm not entirely sure. Needs more testing imho.

Re: Dynamis Reilc Armor & Treasure Hunter
That actually makes a bit of sense - a THF doesn't have to do damage to get hate from a mob.. they can just use Steal and the TH trait would go into effect.

Re: Dynamis Reilc Armor & Treasure Hunter
my ls does 20man dynas and we have 4 THFs 1 in each PT and it works GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dyna Glacier - MNK THF THF BRD SMN
Dyna Glacier#2 - RNG 2 100s
Dyna Bastok #1 - MNK DRG PLD MNK PLD BST BST BRD THF MNK RDM RDM RDM 2 100s
Glacier #3 - 2 100s WHM MNK MNK BRD
Glacier #4 - MNK RDM WHM WAR BST and 4 100s

So from those our Runs are working AMAZING with a thf in each PT it works wonders but thats just our group :x

we also have our THFs pot shot every Mob in the zone with a cross bow so it helps drops

Re: Dynamis Reilc Armor & Treasure Hunter
Horde Lullaby is Lv.27... Hmm... How about THF/BRD in Dynamis, with haste gear, get Haste spell from WHM or RDM, then Horde Lullaby everything in sight? That way, you'd just need one THF to easily activate Treasure Hunter on all targets. (Or, can use other THFs to sac pull?) >_> <_<;

Probably won't land it on anything, but definitely easier to "touch" all monsters without having to track each and every one of them in the horrible lag fest that is Dynamis...

No need to Haste. Just THF/BRD in the same party as a BLM or someone else racking up enmity on everything via Sleepga. Horde Lullaby, and then toss an Etude on whoever is casting Sleepga to add yourself to their associated hate list.

That would be nice, if you're not the only thief in your dynamis linkshell, and the only one who knows the pulls <.< >.>;

Re: Dynamis Reilc Armor & Treasure Hunter
OK got something to add here to the discussion.. yesterday I did my first run with my new HNM group in Bastok. They had some different methods than I'm used to.. Here's some of my observations:

- Our group had 9 BLMs and we were told to Sleepga 2 EVERYTHING unless someone said not to.. The melees would fight two mobs at a time with BLMs also nuking. Average kill time was about 8 seconds per mob.

- I kept an eye on the two THF pullers in the group - one was the main puller and the other was a mercenary, and both would basically solo a mob between pulls, "lubeing up" the mobs with TH before the melee group killed them. The Merc THF would also throw a couple hits on the statues for us BLMs.

I think it paid off big time. We got 22 relic drops, 2 100 bynes, and over 400 singles. Even on the ridiculously good days in my 2+ years doing Dynamis runs, I never saw droprates this generous.

Re: Dynamis Reilc Armor & Treasure Hunter
Yeah, after all this came out we started having a thf come either /blm or /brd and sleep the stats. AF doesn't seem to have changed (since the thfs were all on the hate list of regular mobs anyway, though we've been doing thf main assists lately to make sure the mob gets hit by a th4 thf before it dies), but we've been getting LOTS of 100's these past couple times.
