It's not suicide. Unless your title wasn't your entire question.

SRSLY folks, check your thread after you post it to see if it came out as you intended.

Re: 31war/ 15bst or thf -- Pashhow Marshlands -- Suicide??

First off, I love this site!!!!!! I was never a big fan of FF's (never had a PS) but I got this b/c I love the idea MMO's.

But... I am in need of gil ( as always ) and I have been trying to find ways to make money. I have leveled cooking to 70 (too many cooks now) and I have done BCNM 3 or 4x's (Split my profit b/c group screwed up someone else's orb -- ain't I nice ) So now it is back to good ole' farming... I seriously don't to play for umpteen hours for 5k/stack in chips... I was just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to farm effectively in this area with my war31/ bst20 or 17thf ... or should i just continue lvling and just wait to get my GA ( Voulge atm I have the Neckchopper ) .. .. ... I don't want to turn this into a how to get gil at lvl30 type threads (unless you want pm me some ides) I really want to know if I would have much success farming here..... Thanks for any help....

Re: 31war/ 15bst or thf -- Pashhow Marshlands -- Suicide??

I tried farming crawlers and leeches there as a WAR. I was somewhere between level 30 and 40. I wasn't in any danger, though down time was terrible. With the signet boost to defense and evasion, it should be more efficient now.

But that said, I was not impressed with the drop rate of silk thread / beastman blood. And that was with a sub of level 15 THF (so I had TH). I definitely wouldn't recommend farming as /BST. Not only do lose TH by not subbing THF, but none of the native pets will be able to tank for you. So the only thing you gain by subbing BST is being able to use a pet for a little extra damage. If you could equip a jug and use Call Beast, farming as /BST might be a different story (which beside not being able to use jugs, you wouldn't be able to do so until level 46 anyway).

Re: 31war/ 15bst or thf -- Pashhow Marshlands -- Suicide??

I thought the Tread Leeches (Lv.19-22) would be relatively easy to charm? Carnivorous Crawler (Lv.20-23) wouldn't be too bad, either.

Those can hold their own against other leeches and crawlers for half a battle, I'd think, significantly reduce down time. As bad as losing TH would be, sitting there to regen HP all the time sounds terribly boring.

To OP:
You can always check FFXI Atlas or FFXIClopedia to see what's the level gap between you and the monsters you want to keill.
