I have been fighting in the Dunes but am wondering if I could do better in Junigern or Rollenberry fields instead(or will I get wiped out to easily) Right now my subjob is a level 15 war(I will unlock advanced subjobs as soon as I hit 30--only need 2000k to get to 30) Any burning circles that I would be able to solo, or are they impossible without a party. Red mages are pretty well loved in parties, you really shouldn't bother to try solo your way through.
If you're level 30, you should be around Jeuno seeking for groups. Meet people, make friends, you'll need to be a team player if you want to reach level 50+ at all, trust me. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

Join a party. Rdm solos well in the sense that they don't die easily unlike most other jobs, but we're one of the slowest killers in the game, if not the slowest. If you're intent on soloing, go after crabs and beetles as much as you can after 32, since most of their tp moves will just make you cast Dispel instead of possibly killing you. They also have mp that you can Aspir, which you'll want to get by switching to drk sub as soon as you can. Drk unlocks extra sword weaponskills like war does, but also gives you some more mp, increases your attack, and gives you Drain and Aspir, which are absolutely great.
There are a few BCNMs rdm can solo, but most of them require extremely difficult to get high level equipment like crimson cuisses to be able to do. Lower level BCNMs generally can't be soloed, unless you count Treasures and Tribulations, which basically gives you a 1/3 chance at success any way you do it. The one exception I can think of is BCNM60 Wild Wild Whiskers, which can probably be pulled off with less expensive equipment, but the payoff isn't too great anymore compared to other BCNMs for the seals you put in. - | | ::Quote Selected:: | | The following user says "Thank You" to Taskmage for above post: | | | 12-09-2006, 05:13 PM | #4 (permalink) | | FFXIWiki'er FFXIWiki Team Join Date: Sep 2006 Posts: 1,572 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 102 Thanked 39x in 30 Posts Gil: 29,363 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 29,363 Donate | Re: Best places to solo level rdm after level 30 WHen I was at 25 I headed for Kazham like everyone else did, and I had a hard time getting a party for a while as an RDM - although this was about the time the new FF came out so I think that contributed.
After 32-34 i think most people head to Garliage Citadel, although there are loads of other places to go to level.
Good luck! I heard that at 40+ RDM really gets interesting! | | ::Quote Selected:: | | The following user says "Thank You" to hongman for above post: | | | 12-09-2006, 09:49 PM | #5 (permalink) | | Pink Mage Brain of Knowledge Join Date: May 2006 Location: Bastok/Illinois Posts: 1,579 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 154 Thanked 182x in 120 Posts Gil: 20,390 Bank: 93,879 Total Gil: 114,269 Donate | Re: Best places to solo level rdm after level 30 After 40, you have Convert, so your mana pool increases significantly. Theres sort of a gap between 30 and 40 where you can't really solo as well as you could before and you can't really do anything except debuff which can be handled by either a WHM/BLM, a BLM/WHM, or a NIN/WAR... You compete primarily with BRD for Dispel on Defensive Buff mobs such as Dhalmel, Beetles, and Crawlers, and occasionally Hecteyes all of which use nasty buffs that make killing them very difficult after they've used one.
Once you get Refresh... that ends.
Make sure you have at least the two staple sub jobs, BLM and WHM as they will help make you more versatile. Add BLU and NIN for soloing and then DRK for Sky.
BLU is my favorite for soloing (at least before Utsu: Ni) as Cocoon's Def+50% bonus is absolutely godly when combined with Phalanx/Stoneskin/(optional Blink). I've found my farming speed increases quite admirably with /BLU over /NIN at my level and lower (61). | | ::Quote Selected:: | | The following user says "Thank You" to Sabaron for above post: | | | 12-10-2006, 08:30 AM | #6 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2006 Location: ny Posts: 279 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 122 Thanked 4x in 4 Posts Gil: 17,342 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 17,342 Donate | Re: Best places to solo level rdm after level 30 I figured it was probably not a good idea to try to solo but I wanted to see what my options were for the times when parties are not available(I have spent some nights looking the whole night for a party, others I can find parties quick). At level 30, is it worth it to try any assults or garrisons(not soloing but with a party)? Thanks for the advice. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-10-2006, 09:16 AM | #7 (permalink) | | Digital Wizard Super Moderator Join Date: Aug 2003 Location: Florida, USA Posts: 6,054 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 69 Thanked 478x in 316 Posts Gil: 1,279 Bank: 148,450 Total Gil: 149,729 Donate | Re: Best places to solo level rdm after level 30 You can't do Assault until level 50, so no, it's not an option there.
Garrison in lower level zones is possible at 30, but again, is not something you're going to gain XP with, and is very hard to organize.

Anyways, Iv decided to stop SMN for now and go back to lvling BLM and then RDM. SMN is just neigh on impossible unless you have a sunstantial money pool and/or high lvl playesr to help. I busted 25k on Garuda last night for it be end within 3 mins. Yes I lost. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-11-2006, 11:27 AM | #9 (permalink) | | Pink Mage Brain of Knowledge Join Date: May 2006 Location: Bastok/Illinois Posts: 1,579 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 154 Thanked 182x in 120 Posts Gil: 20,390 Bank: 93,879 Total Gil: 114,269 Donate | Re: Best places to solo level rdm after level 30 Originally Posted by DR2D2 | I figured it was probably not a good idea to try to solo but I wanted to see what my options were for the times when parties are not available(I have spent some nights looking the whole night for a party, others I can find parties quick). You shouldn't try to solo for that purpose. Remember, however, that you can kill just about any EP/TW and some more powerful creatures that you like (be mindful of high aggro areas and multiple links because it takes us a while to whittle down a mob's HP without expending our MP to the point of rest/conversion). RDM are able to farm items that are dropped by mobs with levels closer to theirs than other non-pet jobs. At very high levels, they can take on opponents no other job can defeat solo. That is the essence of RDM solo; we are a solo job, just not an XP solo job. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-12-2006, 06:42 AM | #10 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2006 Posts: 24 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 1 Thanked 2x in 2 Posts Gil: 261 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 261 Donate | Re: Best places to solo level rdm after level 30 25-30 is pretty easy on wanderers in promyvions, 30-33(not sure) your best place to solo is gob's pets @ bibiki bay and the list goes on, but as everyone said: RDM has to party to learn and get more experience in the job role etc.
