PLD doesn't get a second form of MP recovery until merits unless you count Parade Gorget. I don't see where SCH's second form of MP recovery is coming from either.
PLD does get V.Cloak, I many times had to make use of it, between pulls if nothing else.

Re: Mp Recovery

Question about the Jump thing. I used Jump before no DRG and actually took hate. Is it only High and Super that remove the hate? I know its off topic but figured I'd ask.

Yes, only High and Super shed hate, and if I understand correctly in order for High to shed hate you have to actually currently have hate, you can't just pop it off randomly and kill a chunk of enmity.

Re: Mp Recovery

The merit one is what I"m talking about for PLD and SCH I was refering to Aspir which I know is situational.

3 min timers, so once every 1.5 min. It's good, but BST is still better, especially at merit levels when the average fights get close 30 second or even go under. heh.

If gears count, there's also Ares Cuirass, which can conceivably be full-timed or at least used as standing gear in some situations. No merits needed, but Salvage requires a great deal of patience or luck. Usually, both. Seen quite a few PLDs with Vermillion Cloak, though.

SCH can... um... Aspir. And, er.. Use Vermillion/Ixion Cloak.

Anyway, the whole issue is a bit silly. If want more MP refresh, set up the party to get more MP refresh. Or, alternatively, set up the party to use less MP. Or, use gear to get more MP back via Auto Refresh. Or, acquire a decent hMP* set, so can recover from 0% to 100% MP in under 2.5 minute.

Or, do some combination of the above.

With 20 jobs and each able to use several different support jobs, 16 equipment slots and 70-80 inventory space, there are lots of ways to tweak the party and character set up so the MP flow wouldn't be a problem.

* * *

Played around with FFXIgear.com; hMP+38 setup

I think that means 792 mp recovered in 120 seconds, and 1326 MP recovered in 180 seconds. Which would be resting MP recovery of 396 MP/min and 442 MP/min, respectively. It means one can usually get from low to good enough MP with at most 2 minutes of resting, and will never need 2.5 minute to recover full MP (crazy Taru on MP build besides).

Even if only resting for one minute at a time, that's still 330 MP/min recovery while healing.
