White Mage gear post AF {Please}{Help me out!}

I'd like to start off with a little bit of history. When I last leveled White Mage on a previous character, fifty-two was as high as I ever took that character before I had restarted. Now on Alekia, I've managed to take White Mage to 61 and now I'm at a bit of a loss as to how I should progress in terms of gear post AF.

This is what I have so far and how I plan to move on for certain pieces of gear:

Main: Elemental Staff (NQ)
Sub : Raptor Strap +1
Ammo: Holy Ampulla
Head: Healer's Cap
Neck: Beak Necklace
LEar: Antivennom Earring
REar: Insomnia Earring
Body: Healer's Briault (Noble's Tunic at 68)
Hand: Healer's Mitts (Blessed Mitts at 70)
LRng: Electrum Ring
RRng: Electrum Ring
Back: Red Cape +1
Waist: Qiqirn Sash +1 (Aiming for Penitent's Rope when I have enough seals)
Legs: Healer's Pantaloons (Blessed Trousers at 70)
Feet: Healer's Duckbills (Blessed Pumps at 70)


Now the Strap, rings and back piece, I have an idea where I want to go with those...depending on the price of course. However, I'm lost as to the direction I should go for Ammo, head, neck and earrings, so any help would be appreciated. Please keep in mind I'm just talking a standard White Mage build and not a melee White Mage. I'll worry about that once I'm seventy-five.

You're fine as you are until 75 (and replacing bits where necessary as you've already planned so).

No need to fix what's not broken (or lacking).

EDIT: Since you're hume, RSE Gloves at 62 gives 35mp, 4INT 4MND, a bit expensive though . . . 300k on my server

Ammo: Hedgehog Bomb is great if you can afford it, otherwise Ampulla is fine.

Head: W. Turban. Swap in a MND piece for cures, I use Healer's Cap +1, some use Goliard. Whatever you've got.

Weapon: Consider getting a Templar Mace and a shield with MND on it. It has the same Cure Potency on it as a Light/Apollo's, but the added MND on the mace and whatever shield you use will increase the amount your Cures do.

Most of your gear seems to be going in the right direction from what I can tell. Remember to get a good hMP set for between fights. There are other sets you could consider working on, but for starting out and getting to 75 that's probably a bit overwhelming, but I'm glad to answer your questions if you have others.

The Blessed Hands, Legs and Feet are the best full time WHM gear in the game for those slots. The rest of the gear for those slots for WHM tends to be situational or macro only.

Healer's Cap is fine as a head slot. All of the good ones for WHM tend to be from endgame stuff like Nyzul (Goliard) and assault (Yigit) or takes a long, long time for a WHM to obtain (Walmart Turban). If you have Sea access then the Healer's Cap +1 is incredible as a head slot.

The Red Cap can be cheaply upgraded to a Rainbow Cape for about 9-10k. Also consider getting a Hierarch Belt. It has +48MP and +2hMP. P.Ropes tend to just be an ePeen item for WHMs since they're more useful for RDM, BLM and SCH IMO.

Oh and use a staff strap for the straps slot. It's not that expensive and it's the best full time strap a mage can use.


The Neck slot is fine. Consider getting an Ajari Necklace for +MND and Hexa Strike macros. +6MND in the neck slot is incredible. Your Earrings are fine. You won't get much better than +15Mp in each ear slot.

One last suggestion is to consider changing the rings to Convert HP>MP rings. Sublimation is taken from your max HP before Convert HP>MP gear in applied meaning that -HP gear is just going to cause sublimation to give you back less MP in the long run.

Yeh, I suggested the Marine Gloves from 62-68, since he seems to be wanting to have something to upgrade/replace.

I personally used full Crow gear until 68. -28 enmity is extremely noticeable! I was casting Cure IV and Flash almost leisurely thanks to that gear (and Penury >.>b)


I've stopped my WHM for now (major lack of invites ever since I hit 66 wtf I hate Seraph) but I ended up switching to Noble's and Cobra Gear. Cobra adds a nice chunk of HP & MP along with magic accuracy (great for enfeebles) and conserve MP.

I see most is covered already except for indeed some macroable gear.

When/If you do Dynamis and want whm gear there are 3 pieces to be on the lookout for.
Cleric's Duckbils for stoneskin and Bar-spells.
Cleric's Pantaloons for Bar-Spells
Cleric's briault for Regen.

Other Dynamis pieces:
Head is terrible, get only for set completion.
Hands are nice for enfeebling.

Another favorite item of mine for Stoneskin and Cure V which should not be that expensive is the Ajari bead necklace which gives +7 MND.
You should be able to equip that already and I believe it is not even that expensive.

Weapon:
Elemental Staves will do fine forever, no need to replace it really but for cure spells there are decent alternatives.
At level 71 the Templar Mace comes into play which is a decent substitute paired with a Muse Tariqah.
The mace should be quite affordable, but both are also NM drops.
Healing/Dryad's staff is also a good option paired with a Staff strap or Bugard leather strap (+1). (I think Roc is quite uncompeted these days and his platform can easily be reached these days thanks to the cavernous maws.)
Light/Apollo's staff will stay your main weapon of choice for Repose.
And the basic Enfeebling weapons:
Ice/Aquilo's for Paralyze, Wind/Auster's for Silence, Earth/Terra's for Slow etc.

AF itself:
The Artifact gear itself is not bad to keep as macro pieces by the way.
Keep the legs in your macro set for Repose as +15 Divine skill is really helpful sticking it on higher level mobs.
Hands for Cure V the combination of both MND and healing magic skill make these the best hands for Cure V aside from the +1 (Make this one of the first pieces to +1 as soon as you are able to do Limbus.)(I also use them for Hexa Strike, +7 STR is sechs!! :3)
Head has been explained, awesome piece. It looks like a condom but we love it regardless!
Body for enfeebling magic.

There is a lot more gear in a lot of departments but a lot of it is also extremely hard to obtain so I'll just leave that stuff out unless you really want to go into detail about the uber gearsets.
(From which most I do not own myself either I do admit )

One last addition, try to get your hands on a Swift belt if you have not already!
For spells like Regen, Haste, Erase, Esuna and Sacrifice Haste gear is awesome!!! (Not to forget all other jobs that benefit from the belt.)
Gearwise, haste is very easy and inexpensive to cap on whm. (Haste gear cap hovers a little above 25%)

Turban: 5%
Blessed Mitts (+1): 5%(6%)
Blessed trousers (+1): 3%(4%)
Blessed Pumps (+1): 2%(3%)
Swift Belt: 4%
Nashira Manteel/Goliard Saio: 3%/4%
Capricorn Staff: 5%

At endgame/75, you can consider upgrading the headpiece to the easily-acquirable Walahra Turban. That and I despise the look of the AF hat for WHM...

Otherwise what's mentioned above will get you easily to 75. Once you're there you can branch out a bit and decide what flavors of endgame gear you'd like to pursue.

Muse Tariqah is MND+7, and drops frequently from Verdelet. (Heck, even I have one, and I don't know why--my WHM is Lv.44.) Unfortunately, that NM isn't solo-able on WHM (I think?), so will need help.

Yeah I didn't mention it because farming zeni and getting people to go is a huge pain in the ass. But it is the best one out there for WHM.

Zeni is easy for WHMs who aren't too greedy. Enfeeb, then melee down the target to ~20% HP or lower, disengage, Repose. Snap pictures, and reapply Repose when it wakes up. Can be do it half asleep if the critter is EP or lower.

Last Verdelet run, I was poking at people to lot the shield, because I hated to see stuff drop to the ground.

I really love - enmity actually. I see other whms pulling hate a LOT more than I do and dying a lot more than I do also. Some brag about their cures that land for 15 hp more and ya more is good but it isn't good if you're eating dirt and not able to cure as much weakened. So to me - enmity over cure potency any day of the week.

I .dat swapped that too! I hate how turbans look. I think I posted my pic a while back of the swaps I've done for turbans. WalMart turban is a Navy flower, Nashira is Golden, Healer's Cap +1 is Red, Yigit Turban is Salmon, Sipahi Turban is lightish blue, and I think I swapped that horrible Oracle's cap (which I don't have) but I can't remember what color. The flowers look way nicer than the turbans, at least to me. I still see them on every other race! Just not on Hume F. lol.

Also, you're taru so it doesn't matter as much to you TGM, but the 30 MP is pretty nice, also the 30 HP is great for a Devotion build.

Nashira Turban is a highly underestimated headpiece for whms.
For enfeebling spells and Repose it's one of the best headpieces white mage can obtain.
