I heard so many stories and I know I've read articles on here, but is WHM the easiest job to take to 75 first for sakes of lvling and breaking all limits the easiest?

RDM and BRD, but for the love of god don't level a job just because it's easy invites.

My Mood: | Re: Is WHM really the easiest job to take to 75 first? Eh. If you like it it is. That's really all anybody can tell you. Well, that, and don't get caught up in the "race" to 75: there's so much more to do in this game than that. And you're probably going to want to be on a job you like throughout all of it.

I by no means am in a race to 75. I got this game right at release and I still don't have a 75. Even after gaming times increased for a short while, not one 75. I have two lvl 70s and about 5 lvl 50+. Just need a little guidance because rdm is too hard LMAO.

I have but the Maat battle is too hard, or at least for me. Otherwise I can use Rdm for any and everything. I can't gain xp until I beat Maat but I can't seem to get the necessary skills capped with the usual parties , and my friend and LS groups seem to not wanna skillup much. I tried solo skill up and ended up dead multiple times. I just want to get to 75 at this point because I feel its long over due. So I want easy.

My Mood: | Re: Is WHM really the easiest job to take to 75 first? You are a disgrace! Get your Red Mage butt to Maat's right now and whoop it, do I make myself clear soldier!?! . . . No, seriously, why did you post asking for an easy way out as opposed to asking for help on the Red Mage Maat fight? We'd be more than happy to give you tips on how to do it, and multiple ways, too. In fact, I'm sure I can give you one right now: see that piece of trash that I know is in your left hand right now? That Darksteel Buckler? Get rid of it and go to Aht Urghan right now and get yourself one of these babies. You have minimal loss (like, one-and-a-half Attack points and 4 DEF?) and maximum gain (more damage absorbed overall from being a Kite Shield, and Haste is always nice). Anything else you'd like to say? How about posting your gear setups and step-by-step how exactly you're going about the Maat fight? Last edited by Yellow Mage; 05-15-2009 at 07:12 PM. Reason: YouTube has plenty of good Maat fight videos; I can show you some of my favorites, if needed. |

Is your enhancing severely uncapped? If you were dying, why couldn't you sleep the mob?

My Mood: | Re: Is WHM really the easiest job to take to 75 first? I know already that I could fail Maat 100 times and I'd quit the game before I took the "oh I'm going to take this job to 70 as well just so I can beat Maat" route. Exp grinding would suck more than any NM battle would. The Maat fights were intended to be as close to a rite of passage as you were going to get, but power creep over the years has basically made it a joke for most jobs, as well as I can gather (especially since Maat is never aware of any update that has ever happened since Zilart). Before Composure and Enspells II, I dreaded approaching level 50 as I had feared that was when my preferred playstyle would start causing some white-hot friction to slow me down from ever getting anywhere lest I conform and be a good little Haste/Refresh whore. But even then, I looked forward to the Maat fight, one on Red Mage that has been widely regarded as one of the most difficult even back in the Zilart days. To me, it still had that "rite of passage" look to it, and as such I held it in no less regard than a truly epic fight. Composure and Enspells II have had minimal effect on how I feel about that.

I just think you were coming on a bit strong. RDM Maat is no joke and it's terribly demoralizing having to go back and farm new tests. I've known more than one rdm that quit the job because they couldn't hack it in G5. On a tangent, I do wish I could go back and redo rdm 50-70 now with the new stuff. To the OP, what's your other level 70? Whatever it is the Maat fight probably isn't nearly as hard.

I don't know that I'd say it say it was easier to get to 75 period, but it's certainly the earliest job you can take to Campaign battles. (My rule has always been "150MP weakened" so you can cast Reraise right away.) While the XP isn't fast from healing in campaign, it's steady. And I liked the roving healer play style a lot better than back-line cure-bot. Too bad SE just nerfed the main way I got exp from about 65 or so to 75. (banging on fortifications) Just make sure to skill up your magic elsewhere. Maat is another matter. If you're good about keeping your skills up, capped Divine magic at 70 means you can use Repose on Maat. (There will be people here who will gnash their teeth and whine about the statement I just made. It does work, but you still have to be prepared to take hits when it gets resisted.) Five reposes, one partially resisted, one fully resisted, Maat gave up. But WHM does have the advantage of Teleports, Reraises, Sneak/Invisible, and Warp with /BLM. WHM is a good explorer, as long as you stay away from magic aggro. (Then there was the time I soloed Moongate Pass on WHM/BLM.) Getting some of the other genkai stuff along the way, however, you will still need help. It was a while before I was capable of soloing the Kindred seals I needed for G4. I think I got two of them myself. Now I get them to drop all the time while skilling up weapons, and leveling BLM. G1 and G3 required killing some stuff that I just couldn't solo at that level. And I'm not sure that any job can solo G2 before 56. The testimony got farmed for me when I was helped with G3.

Yes, WHM got blessed with getting Repose. Being able to sleep Maat is awesome. WHM Maat isn't too hard if you are prepared and have a game plan and the right items. And with thew new JAS WHM got, it's gotten even easier. Here's a link to a good strat: Shattering Stars WHM Given the fact that Afflatus Solace gives you Stoneskin when you cast a Cure spell helps you when trying to cast cure spells in a pinch. I don't even think you would need every single piece of gear prescribed in this strat, ... maybe an Earth staff and a few Ethers, Drinks. The way is actually made easy for you; just not sure you see it clearly.

Thanks for all the info. I actually have all the Genkais finished except five. I failed 4 times as RDM now and twice as DNC. So I just started up with WHM again from 51 and hoping for the best. ---------- Post added at 09:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:47 PM ---------- Well reading some more of the post. I have Rdm AF and Enhancing and enfeeble close to level 66 cap and elemental the same with healing right behind. I tried to skill up from a very low skill due to getting caught up in Campaign. I have DNC capped on all skills and failed against Lailia and even follow two of the most recommend strats on that fight to fail. I know easy sounds bad and stuff, sorry. Thanks for the criticism and tips again though. |
