You guessed it, I am trying to make my WHM as best at soloing as possible. I am tired of something saying it is an easy prey and killing me. Here is what I am doing and what I have. I am a lvl 75 whm and am subbing nin. Right now I am only a 30 nin and am working towards 37. I also am working on my club skill. I am 176 right now I want hexa strike of course. So...other then those two which I am working on right now (37 nin and capping club skill) what else can I do to make myself a bad a$$ fighting whm. I just got my walahra turban today. I have a life belt. What other gear do you reccomend that is best for what I am trying to accomplish. Of course I want to keep my mp up as well. So I am sure there is something good out there I can find. Any ideas? I also have a life belt and use jack-o-lanterns when skilling up. Any other food type? Thank you so much!

Well, I'd go for Walhra Turban first and foremost. You probably have this.
Swift belt next, seriously better than Life Belt.
Then Reverend Mail.
Sniper Rings or Sniper/Ecphoria combo.

I'm somewhat at a loss after that point, I don't know what all else a WHM could equip for melee since I seldom pay attention what what they can use for melee.

Finishing NIN sub is the first step, you're already on your way there. Stop using Jacko's and start using Sushi, if you are low on cash Crab Sushi is an affordable option on most every server...for 3 hour food once your skill is capped Marinara Pizza is a good option as it gives moderate Attack as well as Accuracy. Spend some merits on capping Club Skill merits as well, this will have a pretty solid impact on your accuracy/attack for the effort, it will take 21 total merit points to cap the category.

As far as gear, you want to get some Haste gear for TPing in several slots, luckily WHM has easy access to a large amount of Haste via Blessed Hands/Legs/Feet. Aside from that there are several pieces you're going to need help aquiring...to start, Optical Hat from Hakutaku, and if you aren't on Chapters 4-5 yet in CoP you'll want to work on that and try to get a Swift Belt. Also nice if you can get the help is Reverend Mail from Shen.

There was a thread here a few days ago regarding weapons, typically the most bang you can get per the effort is to get up to Chief Sergeant assault ranking and purchase a Perdu Wand with your IS.

Other than that there's not a ton WHM can equip, wear Haste/Accuracy for TP and Accuracy/Attack for WS. There's not a lot of DD gear that WHM can wear in several slots, but the good news is that Hexa Strike is a strong WS, which mostly needs Acc gear, which WHM can equip a fair amount of.

As far as actual gear sets, I would aim for something along the lines of the following:

Neck: Peacock Charm/Prudence Torque/Chivalrous Chain
Earrings: An Attack+ Earring/Brutal Earring(2x Attack Earrings for now)
Body: Goliard Saio/Nashira Manteel
Hands: Blessed Mitts
Rings: Acc Rings, Ecphoria + Woodsman is good
Back: Royal Army Mantle
Waist: Swift Belt(Life Belt is good for now)
Legs: Blessed Trousers

That'll get you a crapload of TP for spamming Hexa Strike, Mystic Boon or Randgrith. Interesting to note also that with that set up you'd actually be going over the haste cap on gear O.o (and yes I'm aware a lot of that stuff is unattainable for the majority of players. I did it for the lulz.)


Gotta admit WHM/NIN with that set up would be pimp (could even replace Mjollnir with Yagrush and go for LV 3 Aftermath just for shits and giggles... and to break the chat log XD)

Is the Swift Belt really necessary? WHMs have access to a lot of Haste from the Blessed Gear along with the spell itself so something like a Potent Belt would be more useful even if it's just macro'd in for Hexa Strike.

This brings up a question i've wondered about.

Is the 25% haste cap, for gear only? or does it include the spells/songs as well?

Example:

I have a whm with 16% haste gear...I cast haste on myself, would I know be @ 26% haste? or 25%?

Monk with BB and full Uskane, is 25% haste right? So if you hasted them, would they even see any benifets I guess is what I'm asking?

wow malacite yea you have given me a layout of some of my dream gear. but I just dinged 75 and havent even merited yet. so...maybe some gear I can look at getting now instead of a Kraken club or what not...hehe I wish...but 25 mil isnt going to fall into my lap. The good thing about WHM melee is that most of the good (not necessarily godly) gear is free. Here is the setup that I use, it's mostly mage gear, that is, the gear that you'll be having anyway as a WHM with a few extra toys mixed in. It's obviously not the best available but it's still good.

Main: Morgenstern (unlocked) or Brass Jadagna
Sub: Perdu Wand
Ammo: Hedgehog Bomb
Head: Walahra Turban
Neck: Chivalrous Chain
Earrings: Magnetic Earring + Insomnia Earring
Body: Goliard Saio
Hands: Blessed Mitts
Rings: Rajas Ring + Sniper's Ring
Back: Intensifying Cape
Waist: Life Belt (or Potent Belt)
Legs: Blessed Trousers
Feet: Blessed Pumps

Now before people go OMG YUR MELEE SUX I know that this isn't ideal, but it mixes the gear you'll already have with a bit of extra Haste and Accuracy to enable you to solo things OK. It has a nice amount of HP as well, particularly important if you're a taru.

If you're not subbing NIN, then I would use a Divine Shield instead of the weapon sub, and have either unlocked Morgenstern or Perdu Wand in the main hand.

Haste gets better the more you have, and Potent Belt is really just an overpriced Life Belt (besides, if anything, it's Acc that you don't need so much of when soloing.) Plus, Haste doesn't just boost offense, it improves recast timers. Considering it's fairly obtainable and the OP is asking for the best gear, yeah, it's necessary.

The +1 set only adds up to 13%



W. Turban: 5%

Blesses Trousers +1: 4% (25, capped)


So the feet are 3 points of over kill with all that lovely BS gear XD (particularly the Sash. Godly as it is it drops from AV so GL with that X.x) At least we found out it's possible to cap Haste gear on WHM without /DRG.
