Forget Hexa Strike ...
I've been soloing coffer key mobs in Uggalepih Temple for my SMN AF body and just for kicks I had a bit of a bash with my Primate Staff to see what the results would be like since the two-handed weapon update.

Well ...

It's really quite awesome. I have capped Staff skill and Retribution unlocked and the results were really quite impressive. Usually the damage isn't much to scoff at but I was hitting the Hover Tanks down there for a fairly reasonable amount, about 150 regular and 250 crits, and Retribution did about 700-900 on average. Considering the delay on Primate Staff is quite good for a two handed weapon this seemed like a really nice improvement to me. I didn't compare to Club and Hexa, which in retrospect I should have, but it's either got to be better or just as good.

Damage against other enemies that aren't weak to blunt was also much better. Has anyone else played around with this on WHM?

I think it's because all 2 handed weapons got a significant boost. PDIF ratings for 2 handed weapons just went through the roof with this update.

Have you tried out using one of the mage-type grips with your staff yet?

I'd love to know how much of a boost you get on damage!

Well I don't think the mage-grips would help much, except maybe if theres a mind modifier on the WS, but still I would think the melee grips would be better.

Since the grips are all jobs, whm can benifit from any of them really. I've been playing around a little with my friends grips, and they're nice. Not a big boost, but the 2hand update by it self I think was plenty. The grips I think are just there to give us something to bitch about. MOAR INVENTORY SPACE SE! CHOP CHOP!

I did parse a few steelshells in the tree with my gimpy 209 skill on blm. No sushi and I parsed 87% acc with the only dex gear being Jupiter's Staff and the acc from Ulthalam's Ring.

Not going to change from nuking to meleeing in exp (maybe level up my scythe now though), but nice for farming on mages where I don't wanna waste MP just to have to rest.

Only whm though, considering boosting some gear and instead of /nin for when I melee whm, thinking of /war, /sam, or /drg...maybe even /drk. Could be a fun twist.

Mage grips? Come on Olo, man up! Go for the melee ones! Might I suggest the Mythril Grip+1:

Also, I'm no WHM, but I would think Full Swing with 200%+ TP would be bananas now compared to last week. >.>
