i love whm.

I think its the god complex. To hold the party's life and death in your hands is a very cool thing.

Just kidding. Sort of.

I love the fact im so mobile, can get around the world very fast for free. and dont have to buy sneak oils and powders very often. and its easy to make parties when u are already the healer.

There is a certain thrill in playing a role that is literally the life and death (and a little of the afterlife raise ^^) of the party. The only one with more ability to keep a party running smothly or push it to wipe is the puller.
It's nice being able to travel rapidly throughout the zones and have a fresh chocobo waiting for you at most of your popin spots.
I like being able to put a party back on it's feet when run by and see the dead and the dying.
Usually having people who want you to join their campain of terror against the beatles, mandies, exc

Even the occasionaly praying that the crazy puller will let you get above 30 mp before bringing the next mob to the party and seeing if you can somehow prevent deaths has the excitement/ fun/ pulling out hair quality to it.

i like the challenge of keeping people around me buffed and cured. i've poked around in some other jobs, and found WHM easier to do. though, that maybe because tarutarus are harder to fit with non-magic jobs .. getting easy invites is also good, though even at lv59, there's still days where i'm LFP for several hours. it gets discouraging now and then ..

i like the whm to put it simply i am naturally good at support jobs. cant explain it. but besides that i like the fact that as a whm you get invited to parties right after you put up your looking for party tag. not only that but if somebody pisses you off you can decide to not heal them. of course then you would prolly get kicked from the party but then you can get invited to another right away. its a never ending cycle. im evil i know hehe..... kinda wrong for a whm to say that but hey you can do anything in virtual reality. yea i think thats it.

the fact that whm are literally always needed for pt's in FFXI is always a plus if you want to become a whm. it can also make a great sub job for a few of the mage jobs I.E, SMN/WHM and RDM/WHM, also with NIN subbed you can be a sick WHM, WHM/NIN, maybe not as effective or sick as a RDM/NIN but you come very close

Probably been said - I like WHM because I don't have to be the main healer.

I dunno, parties always seem more relaxing with a WHM around, everyone seems more laid back. Maybe it's just because I can actually enfeeble things and can enjoy a party more.

Hello all! Been playing for 13 months now on Siren and TBH I didn't start out as a White Mage. But it's my life now and I'd be happy to share my thoughts Rain_Blade!

I loaded up FFXI for the first time and picked Mithra as my starting race because I had planned to do a little melee and a little magic and felt Mithras were the best compromise. I started RDM because I usually played RDM-style melee-mages in other FF's and similrar RPGs.

But what derailed my plans is that FFXI is my first-ever MMO and the fact I was dealing with real people changed my perceptions. I love to put a hurtin' on mobs but I quickly learned I liked backing up the other party members more. Helping other, real, people enjoy their time more is a rush! At RDM 30-ish, I tossed it and went WHM full-on until about 52, bringing /BLM up as needed not to gimp.

The things I like most about WHM have already been said - helping random people, last-minute rescues in the Dunes, easy to get around, tele-whoring, making others more effective, and feeling needed and appreciated.

But what I like most is that in real life, I'm not much of a people person. I'm sociable and friendly, but I don't seek the company of others outside of family and close friends often. But in Vana'diel, I can't get enough social interaction. WHM exposed something about myself. And yes, I find myself thinking IRL about other people a little more. I can't buff strangers on an elevator (unless I want to get arrested ^^) but I can maybe do something else to lift them up...

Weird, huh? And they say gameplay makes us evil!

In parties, I find I like a mix of solid, fast moving parties where I can just do the buff-haste-regen lather-rinse-repeat on days I'm exhausted and such. And I like parties with more of an edge - overeager pullers, mob switchups, DDs who don't care about hate-stealing. It is a cool feeling to be able to stay on top of all that chaos.

Of course, I really like a solid party that will push *everyone* to their limits with aggressive mob selections, chain-pulls and great organization and teamwork.

I like the fact that in many cases I can save the party's bacon if things go bad - Repose, Flash, Curaga - the WHM voke, Benecide, and of course Reraise. I don't mind taking a hit or three if it keeps everyone else going.

On the PL thing, I usually PL when a shell-mate requests it and I usually make sure the leader knows I'm coming as a PL. But what I'd tell any main healers in the party is that with their leader's OK and if they want, go skilling! When I was 25-40 I did a lot of mage melee bumping club and evasion. You can still easily cover cure-panics and statuses (you DO have your macros done up tight, right?) and if need be, disengage and heal up.

I don't usually PL for more than an hour, usually waiting for an invite, so if the WHM feels put out and I can't make things flow, at least it's not for all day ^^

I hope this wasn't too much rambling. Oh, one more thing, once Dancer opened, I jumped on it. It's the front-line support job I hoped RDM would be (for me - no flames please). I've come close to being the main healer a few times in the Dunes and Qufim and I love it.

I also like to give free teleports. ^_^

As the one looking at WHM from an outside point of view, they're good healers. I'd rather have them cure me than any other job, save for dancers sometimes.

Yeah that's what I don't like about BLU, DNC, PUP; I can't cure people outside of my party.
