What's going on with my healing skill? - Final Fantasy XI :: Dreams in Vana'diel :: Community

I'm a WHM47/BLM23 right now, and I like to think that I heal as much as I can in a party, since that's my job. When I'm in a party with another WHM I heal just as much as they do. I never melee in XP parties and I leave most of the enfeebling to the RDM, yet for some reason, my healing skill just doesn't want to go up at all.

I was in a party last night with another WHM at the same level as me and I asked what level his healing skill was at - he said 140. I was shocked - mine is only 119. It doesn't cause any problems, I mean, my cures heal as much HP as the next person but I just wonder why it's so low and refuses to budge?

And how can I get it moving up again?

This is based solely on observation, but I've noticed that healing skill rises more often when you heal players when their health is in the yellow or red zone. So maybe your healing a bit to much eh?

My healing skill is 109 at lvl 40 and hasn't budged for a couple lvls either. I honestly haven't been able to tell what healing skill effects anyway. Appears cures depend on your mnd most, but maybe its a combination of the two and I'm just missing it. Nothing to sweat hopefully. :sweat:

my healing skill goes up very fast when I'm PLing friends using cure1... I know it's weird but it's true

Don't worry, healing skill is easy to build. While waiting for the bell for your AF3 to drop, try casting cure 1 repeatedly on the dark stalkers whenever everyone is all right. The fastest way to build healing skill is to cast Cure on undead enemies - then it goes up as fast as elemental magic. (no resist)

My healing skill was slowed down alot around 30. But I find when you do cure someone while their HP is low that is does raise it. Also try using CureIII every once in a while. Almost everytime I use it the skill goes up.

Thanks for the advice, I was Cure IIing all the undead we came across while doing the Genkai I item in Eldeime and managed to gain six levels ... quite nice. The WHM70 who was assisting us got peeved with me for Curing the mob instead of the PLD though - god knows why, he could handle the curing of the whole party on his own quite easily ...
