I have a ton of leftover velvet cloth that did not sell on the AHs, but blacks capes go like hot cakes... so. After that though, what does anyone suggest to go from 55-60? I heard green ribbons, but I have 0 silk cloth. Suggestions? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-06-2006, 03:13 AM | #2 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Rockapulco Posts: 181 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 0 Thanked 2x in 2 Posts Gil: 1,848 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,848 Donate | Re: Just hit 50, now the challenge begins Going from memory, this is what i did:
50-53 Silk cloth
53-57 Karakul Cloth (high cost of material usually, but tends to break even)
57-62 Green ribbon/hunter's cotton/silk headband
62-72 Black Choco Fletchings (I think)
72-78 Rainbow thread/cloth (I think)
78-82 Puk Fletchings
82-88 Wamoura Silk (at 85.5 now)
88-90 Wamoura Cloth (maybe; is lossy, but perhaps not as bad as the alternatives)
90-100 *pain* | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-06-2006, 05:06 AM | #3 (permalink) | | Shikaree N Join Date: Jul 2004 Posts: 689 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 34 Thanked 41x in 26 Posts Gil: 5,960 Bank: 17,337 Total Gil: 23,297 Donate | Re: Just hit 50, now the challenge begins Like Pebbles pointed out it's hard to get around silk and the path she posted is probably the best one you could take. Hunter's cloth is a good alternative to green ribbons, but once you get close enough to Hunter's Cloth, you need bonecraft sub of 21 and hard to find Carapace Powder, which you will probably need to make yourself. You'll also need a godawful amount of cotton thread. But it's still somewhat cheaper than silk. You still have to work your way close enough to it though. So I suggest silk cloth to 53 anyway and then make as many ribbons as you can out of it.
There are alternatives, but most end up being more pricey anyway. If you want to sift through the recipes to decide what you want to do about it yourself, go here: http://ffxi.somepage.com/recipedb/cl...ft-synth-1.php Last edited by nanatsu : 09-06-2006 at 05:13 AM. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-06-2006, 08:30 PM | #4 (permalink) | | =~.^= Brain of Knowledge Join Date: May 2006 Location: Area 3.141592654...... The threads are pricey, but still, I'll have to check on that. Where did you find the skill caps for the new thread/cloth/fletching recipes? I don't think Somepage has them up yet. | Quote: | | After that though, what does anyone suggest to go from 55-60? I heard green ribbons, but I have 0 silk cloth. Suggestions? | What I've been doing, is saving up my guild points. I got the weaving key item awhile ago, and I've been saving up for my glasses. Everynow and then I get black capes as a GP item, so I skill up on those a little bit. Once I get my glasses, i plan on making silk cloths, I have been crafting silk cloths whenever the crawler cocoons in the guild shop have been fairly cheap.
That's what I plan on anyway I'll have to look into the karakul cloth path now. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-07-2006, 02:32 AM | #5 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2004 Location: Rockapulco Posts: 181 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 0 Thanked 2x in 2 Posts Gil: 1,848 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,848 Donate | Re: Just hit 50, now the challenge begins Originally Posted by Vyuru | | Ohhh, I can make Karakul cloth? If you have a job that can easily solo karakuls (unlikely due to chigoes), you can synth thread from the skins too (caps at 54). This would mean karakul cloth is quite profitable (but also very slow, as you'll need heaps of threads), but you wouldn't have a stock of silk cloth for ribbons later. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 09-07-2006, 07:22 AM | #6 (permalink) | | Shikaree N Join Date: Jul 2004 Posts: 689 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 34 Thanked 41x in 26 Posts Gil: 5,960 Bank: 17,337 Total Gil: 23,297 Donate | Re: Just hit 50, now the challenge begins Originally Posted by Vyuru | | Ohhh, I can make Karakul cloth? Though ffrecipe is a good resource also. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
