3 cotton thread+earth crystal=cotton cloth.

I used all those recipes hand in hand and saved myself alot of money.
btw i havent noticed me gaining any skill desynthing the heko obi but the return of thread is nice

Yeah thats normal, dysnthing items never give as much as a regular synth. Just stick to it and you'll get a +.2 every now and then.

I did fly lures in the 20s. Yhea not much profit, and some loss, but didn't require such a heavy investment and it's a quick skill up. The only expensive item is animal glue, so have LS members and friends check AH's for the best priced one. You can grab chocobo feathers in the windy woods choco stall (just craft right there and sell lures to NPC). Sure you loose some, but it's small losses so you can pick it up anytime, and you don't have to wait on AH sales (soil was up for a long time and never sold for me, hate to think of having to AH all of them for the skill up to 30).

I think some alternatives to the path given here could be made, 10+, that doesn't rely heavy on threads and instead goes on fletchings/lures/shinobi-tabi/fletching/fletching

Threads/cloth/armor have a heavy initial investment but you get a lot of it back. But heavy investments make you have to rely on AH a lot more than smaller investments for the same skill but no profit. I'd like to see a lot of paths spring up for this guide.

Btw, great work so far

Yes I am lvl 40 now. I also did not do the fly lures because they were really expensive to make. Instead I am making bird fletchings till 42 and then insect fletchings to 52. I can sell a stack of bird fletchings for 1k gil in Sandoria on my server so I am acually making a profit.

As for animal glue, i farmed mine off gob ambushers in a tower north of giddeus, need TH though, other wise drops are pooh... and you want at least 30 to do this... i'd go with 35 to be safe, i took mnk in there and did some light exp off the ghouls in the back while waiting for respawns (at 33)

Gee, I come to check on my thread after a few people on my server commented on this guide, and Lo and Behold, it has been stickied!

Thanks go out to all of you readers who have commented and shown your interest, as well as mods for the sticky. The next class session of the guide will go online as soon as I have passed level 75 in clothcraft. I also plan to make a good synth-for-profit post, to help get the money for all those really expensive synths that are in the domain of the 70+ region.

Good luck everyone!

Yes, mysterytour kicks serious amounts of a** - it helped me along the way for both crafting and equipment, and I do recommend it highly. Thanks for posting the link for everyone ^^

Hey Pdac, thanks very much for your inspirational guide. Althought like any good crafter I didn't follow it exactly (did less obi and more wool, and more fletchings in the 60's), I just bumped over to 64, and I owe it to you!

In regards to your sub skills, what level is your goldsmithing? I'm looking at HQ's on Gold Thread, but am worrying that I need goldsmithing 55 at least to even do those synths at all.

About Damascene cloth, it's dropped by a few things, King Arthro being the most lucrative (up to 4 cloths I think can drop from him at a time, but he's a HNM so 21-24 hour pop). The other way to get Damascene cloth is by doing Kindred Seal BCNM, and hunting Aquarius (2 hour robber crab lottery pop in The Boyahda Tree).

Arturo-B: Thanks for the kind words I'm glad I was able to help you level cloth so high. Keep at it, I'd like to know your experiences to add to this thread. So far I've levelled goldsmithing to a minor level, and I'm putting effort into that as I go right now if I get frustrated with cloth. Having it be quite high is always a boon however, so I'd suggest working on it for a while.

Manatra: I've never heard of King Arthro dropping more than 1 cloth at a time, but if he does you can be sure the next time he pops I'll get some people to help me take him out.

So far this week, progress on cloth goes relatively slowly. I'll make sure to let you know when the next update will come, probably late this week as I have some finals to take. Good luck everyone!

I'll double check about Arthro dropping more than one as well, but I do distinctly remember someone saying that it dropped 3 one time they killed it. And I heard it could drop up to 4.

Manatra: Well, some friends tonight apparently took out King Arthro - no drops though, so I'm still out of Damascene Cloth. However, one of them swears he's seen more than one drop. Either its cross-server hallucination, Square being evil again, or quite possibly my way to actually get some of these rarer synths done. Thanks for the heads up Manatra, it's much appreciated.

Looks like the next update will come this weekend once I have the time. One member of my set party got a bit of a reprieve, and will be able to meet during the week, so now I can level some more.

Rest assured, I'm going to make the most of that time. Otherwise, my next break from levelling will be sunday, so I'll go for another level or two for clothcraft then. Until then, good luck out there!
