55WAR GAxe 123+ {Help me out!}
sup all, im at 55 war right now and im regretting lettin my GAxe skill fall behind. atm my axe skill is capped at 178, but my GAxe skill is behind at 123. 55 bein my highest job, im obviously new to the game, at least at these levels. i was wondering how i can catch my GAxe skill back up--my friend tells me only in skill up pt's, and i trust him, i just dont know where to go, how to get a skill up pt, or even how they actually work/consist of. would really appreciate your advice!

btw i have good acc gear + sushi, havent tried in this gear set yet, but is it possible that i could still skill up if i join a ~55 exp pt? i remember last using GAxe in Crawler's Nest.

thx amigos.

Re: 55WAR GAxe 123+ {Help me out!}
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Wa...killup_Parties

http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Skill_Cap

The first site is a general overview of skill up parties and addresses warrior in detail. Ignore for now the parts about tanking as you'll most likely not be able to tank things that a skill up party would kill.

The second site compare what your skill is with what it should be. At 55, with your A+ weapon Gaxe, your should have 178 Gaxe skill. Seeing where 123 is on the list under A+ you'll see you have the skill of a level 40 war in that weapon.

I wouldn't suggest joining a typically skill-up party that you'll hear shouts for quite yet. Rather, I'd suggest finding a friend or two to skill up with you. You might find some whms in your LS that want to skill staff or club (as they don't typically get to melee in parties and have very low skill in thier weapons). And any DD that has several weapons that they can use but can't keep them all capped as they level.

Then go back to the caps you were at in the 40s and kill mobs untill you reach the skill relating to the level that you would of left that place. This will help you catch up on those lost skill points. As you close the gap to where you should be, it could be okay to switch to Gaxe in exp parties to help you keep it capped. I'd recommed sushi when doing this to make up for the lost accuracy for not being at cap.

Personally leveling war myself what I have decided to go with exp with one weapon until it's capped then swap to the other (unless I'm called on for a skillchain). Usually I'll level before capping the other weapon so I'll keep using it till it's capped then swap back to the other weapon.

In skill-up parties I recommend finding the lowest delay weapon with the least amount of damage. Make sure that you can easily survive tanking what ever mob you're attacking too, though they'll be too weak or easy prey to you by now. But remember it's not damage that lets you skill up, but rather how often you hit. So you want to keep the mob alive a while and get as many hits in as possible.

Hope that helps you, good luck.

EDIT: Be sure to have signet on for the added effects from the update a few months past. Really helps tanking even match and lower mobs.

You could also try using sushi in an EXP party to boost your acc and try to skill it that way. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, use shield break to lower the mob's evasion by 40 (or Armor Break if it's your damage that's lacking, but if it's colibri they'll just resist armor break)

even with a high acc set up, your DoT will be quite sucky. Personally, I hate the idea of taking it into exp. I would take it to exp when it's 20 points lower or higher. 50 gap is very bad.

Also, most of your fights will be AU against Colibri that eat food. Your sushi will not exist long (and if it does, then you probably suck because you're 50 acc lower than everyone else -- for reference, Aggressor only gives +25).

Re: 55WAR GAxe 123+ {Help me out!}
I was in your situation when i was around lvl 58, my GAxe was at around 125ish because I'd been concentrating on lvling Axe for Rampage. I finally got up the nerve to level Gaxe again because I had read Maat is harder to kill with Axe than with Gaxe. The hard part was figuring out how to do it.

I had a DRG/RDM friend go with me and skill up and duo for a little XP in Crawler's Nest on the beetles and rumble crawlers. I managed to get it up from 125-138 in about 2 hours, then I went to Wajaom Woodlands with the DRG/RDM and skilled up with a PLD friend of mine on Lesser Colibri I equipped as much ACC+ Gear as I had (Life Belt, Merman's Gorget, Royal Knight's Mufflers, Jaridah Peti so +23 if i counted correctly.) I also used some Sole Sushi and I used Aggressor whenever i had a chance. So within about an hour i went from 138-152.

Few hours later I went to pt and from that time until i got it capped at lvl 62 i wore all my acc gear. I'm lvl 65 now almost lvl 66 and it's been capped since then lol.

When in doubt, level your 2handed weapons in exp, it's a ton easier to skill 1 handers in skillup or solo.

Please don't necropost threads unless you have something tangible to add to the discussion.

In this specific instance, the OP has long since gotten past level 55. If you've somehow come across this particular topic and have a related question, please start a new topic.
