Talked to some friends who are taking warior close to 75 now. He said he's going all out sword merit and is duelling company main-hand with joyuse off-hand. He also mentioned +5 skill from ear rings.
So, do you think this set up works? Will the damage out put be much worse than an all-out axe wariors if both have similar other gears? There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,

If he works to get a Ridill, he'll probably be fine. With that setup, it might work.
Joyeuse offhand is almost required from everything i've seen. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-02-2006, 06:17 AM | #3 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: May 2006 Location: Oz Posts: 35 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 210 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 210 Donate | Re: sword merit warrior viable? Yes, it will work.
Although I recommend going 4 Axe, 8 Sword - Axe/Joyuese.
Sword/Sword isnt really that good unless you have Ridill.

Maneater/Jug is the best you can get without a Ridill.
Maneater/Joyeuse is also ok, most WARs do it because Joyeuse is a lot cheaper then a Jug.
Company/Joyeuse is slightly weaker then Man/Joy, but isn't bad by any means. DMG just doesn't really mean that much, ATK is a lot more important. If you're into dual swords and want to do Company/Joyeuse you'll still do really good damage. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-02-2006, 12:48 PM | #5 (permalink) | | J...atatouille Super Moderator Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 8,338 Style: Light - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 5 Thanked 136x in 106 Posts Gil: 28,869 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 28,869 Donate | Re: sword merit warrior viable? if you go all axe without meritting sword, how much merit can you put into axe? I believe the current cap on (offensive) combat skills is 8. While the cap for all of combat skills combined is 12. So you could get 8 axe + 4 sword, 8 sword + 4 axe, 6 axe and 6 sword, or a combination like that... | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-02-2006, 01:45 PM | #7 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Sep 2003 Location: california Posts: 270 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 3x in 2 Posts Gil: 13,658 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 13,658 Donate | Re: sword merit warrior viable? i thought you could only merit a weapon 8 times, parry/shield/eva/guard 4 o.o
well, anyway, axes are just better because rampage dwarfs anything sword has except vorpal...maybe... but id use wood/joy or ridill if i had ridill/joyeuse T_T WAR75/ MNK45/ WHM38/ RDM6/ DRG13/ RNG42/ BLM21/ THF45 /SAM22 /NIN53 /BRD64 /DRK11 /SMN12/BST28/ PLD13/18 BLU/17 COR/1 PUP

Ridill/joy... man this sounds so much fun tho .. T_T
Another question. Since rampage is a multi hit, is it better to keep ACC gears on while using it, or better to switch in STR+ATTK gears?
I see a lot of 75Wars go full ACC. They don't even wear STR rings but go for woodmans. There are painters who transform the sun into a yellow spot,
but there are others who with the help of their art and their intelligence
transform a yellow spot into the sun.

Maneater is better then Woodsville. 18 ATK 5 ACC is a LOT better then 1 DMG/4 STR.
And ACC on Rampage depends on the camp, what food you using, what gear you have, ect. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-02-2006, 07:47 PM | #10 (permalink) | | J...atatouille Super Moderator Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 8,338 Style: Light - Version 5 My Mood: Thanks: 5 Thanked 136x in 106 Posts Gil: 28,869 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 28,869 Donate | Re: sword merit warrior viable? maneater has 18ATK and 5ACC too?
