War/Thf at higher levels.

I've just leveled my warrior to 31 today (yea big accomplishment I know) subbing thief. We had originally planned on the ninja tanking, but I was drawing more hate than I had anticipated without even using SA, provoke, or a weapon skill. Constantly they pulled the monster off me so I could SA Sturmwind for a good 250+ constant damage, and I'd have the hate again. Fortunately for me I tanked pretty well.

What I'd like to know is how do War/Thf fare at later levels when they draw too much hate? Currently I have Str+3, Dex+11, Vit+4, Agi+4, and Acc+2, and I gain TP like a thf/nin. Will I continue to remain so powerful?

WAR/THF is the only job combo in the game with access to double attack, Berserk, Aggressor, and SATA, so yeah, it's pretty strong the whole game. While you don't have something that makes huge spike damage like DRK/THF Souleater WS, you do better DOT the rest of the time and are really consistent on overall damage. Until 55 WAR/THF is easily the best option for pure DD on WAR, after 55 it's really just a matter of your preference and the party setup. At 55 WAR/NIN spamming Rampage is buff, and the DOT on dual axes beats a great axe, but great axe gets Raging Rush and Steel Cyclone, great weaponskills. At 75, while my WAR/NIN does far more damage in exp, my WAR/THF can outdamage rangers on some HNMs, largely because of Steel Cyclone.

So yeah WAR/THF is strong the entire game.

Heh yeah it's a good sub, I do about that same damage as you. I've been using a Neckchopper which help me with catching the Sturmwind since it's a two fold attack.

Dude gaining TP like a thf/nin? Hrm I don't know :dead:

as a pld its been pretty rare for anyone to pull hate from my entire career (yea, dunes and all). drg's used to pull hate from me a lot, waaayyy more than anyone else, but then again thats when they used to get like 90% tp return from pentathrust lol. post TP nerf its been pretty rare for me to lose hate. even rng's have seemed to lose some thunder as i get higher. from 55 on their damage has seemed to just keep lvl'ing out and they draw less and less hate than before.

war/thf has been one of the few jobs that has managed to pull hate from me without an SATA WS being done on it. although war/nin might slightly surpass it, war/thf can spike hate enough to pull it, which means it can do some damn good damage.

I think from 69-71 the DoT of a Berserker's Axe is better than dual axes, and against Catoplebas (who like to use Berserk) that Axe is insane. I landed a critical hit when the Catoplebas had Berserk up for 284, that's crazy. My regular hits when I have Berserk up hit IT mobs for 100-150 a swing. The DoT of Dual Axes takes the lead again at 71 when you can dual wield Tabarzins.

Delay on Tabarzins with Dual Wield II is 489, combined damage is 98. Delay on Berseker's Axe is 504, damage is 95, that doesn't mean you should get rid of your Berserker's Axe, you'll still be using it for Steel Cyclone, and to show off in LS events.

I partied with a WAR/THF at level 48 and I was very impressed at the sturwmind damage he was doing. He was doing 400ish. My Raging would do about 200. But his hits were 50-70 a hit. While mines were 40-50 a hit. I attacked a lot faster cause of haste ^^. I need to level thief myself ; ;. Btw does Steel Cyclone stack with Sneak Attack?
