I know there's a few people on the forum who love the series as much as I do so here is the thread! I picked up the game today and after an argument with my little sister on who is picking what starter, we settled it with a game of Smash Bros Brawl and I lost so she picked Oshawott and I went with Tepig.

So far I'm liking the game, there's a much better variety of pokemon types you can get in the first couple of routes now. If you take time to search the Floccesy Ranch you can catch a Mareep, Psyduck, Azurill, Pidove and Riolu plus a Purrlion from the first zone (Electric, Water, Flying, Fighting, Dark) so you can have a pretty decent starter team right away. Riolu is the most noticeable one given just how Fighting types are pretty much all top tier in Generation V and mandatory both ingame and online.

You also get a free Genesect via Mystery Gift at Lv15 (they boosted the difficulty again so you will need to be at Lv15+ for the first Gym because Cheren loves to spam stat buffs, higher for if you are on Hard Mode) so you can have a really well balanced team from the start. Plus they kept the XP system from B/W 1 so there really isn't any excuse for not having a full party of 6 other than laziness or a self-imposed challenge.

They also boosted the resolution of the sprites so the game doesn't look horrible on a 3DS which is a nice touch.

Also my sister thinks I should change my Tepig's name to "Ganonpork" but there's not enough space for it. Any other suggestions?

Dunno when I'll be getting the game, I'm on a huge SMT kick right now and that's Pokemon-ish enough for me. I have a whole 60% of for the available demons to fill out so I can enjoy discounts and no summoning level restrictions in Nocturne's New Game + later on.

Seriously though, there's a hard mode now? No money right now so unfortunately I can't buy it. I'm still halfway through Black/White 1 anyways.

I stopped playing after Gold and Silver. Anything really I should look forward to in the new Gen? Or did they just do a mashup and just not care about the pokemon anymore?

Yeah it adds more Pokemon to the rosters of Gym Leaders, Trainers and the Elite Four and also gives them better movesets. On Normal movesets tend to be the same as they are in B/W1 so only Gym leaders and the E4 have ones that pose a challenge. On Hard that is expanded a lot and everyone has a slight level boost as well.

There's also an Easy Mode for younger players.

They are both unlocked by trading keys with someone who has a cleared game save via Infra Red. I used a ROM and hacked the save file for it so I could do the IR thing using my old DS Lite.

I have no idea what you mean. GS was already kind of a mashup, so...?

Lame. I mean, Easy Mode is laughable already, but needing someone else's help to unlock it defeats the purpose altogether. Might as well just play on normal and have whomever's helping you trade you some pimped out Pokebabies.

Bought the game with my little sister and she high fived a bunch of guys in the queue when we were walking out of the store with our copies of the game. I wish I was recording it, it was adorable and awesome...

The first guy didn't even expect it, she just randomly high fived him while grinning and everyone else joined in.
