Actually its FFXIII-3 with a fancier name, but at least it doesn't sound silly. I guess making her sound like Batman helps it in SE's minds.

Oh come on BBQ, don't you want to play the story of the Goddess Lightning as she battles the ancient gods of Sparta?

New combos, more powerful Chains of Athena, more spells, and more mythical creatures to fight?

And the teaser looks pretty awesome.

Well, what I've taken away from the presentation is this:

- Lightning has outlived all her friends, so all those annoying people are dead.
- Facebook integration... bleh, this is what Demon's or Dark Souls would be like with spam.

I think social networking for gaming needs to be a bit more internal to the game or the console its running on. This is mostly because that means the social experience is focused on the game or games in question. When you play a Wii U game, for example, you have this miniaturized social network you can access within any level of Super Mario Bros. U.

This as opposed to someone on your LRFFXIII feed posting cats.

In Dark Souls you leave hint/trolls on the ground for other players to find and hopefully be helped by them and this is deftly woven into the spirit of the gameplay.

As opposed to me having to endure your "inspirational images" or political opinions on Facebook.

Social network integration is an inevitable part of the future of gaming, but Facebook may not be a thing forever. Its much wiser to make it game or game-network centric as filling my facebook feed with your game progress - whatever game that might be, even if I like said game - will only ever be seen as spam

Edit > And Squeenix just keeps showing they couldn't care less about what gamers actually want with respect to the main series. SE said they wanted to expand upon XIII and that's what you get, whether you like it or not. And sales tank, and no more money for the real games.

Looks like my "Universal Rules of all FF Forums Hypothesis will be proven right. FF forums are all the same with new FF games:

Rule #1 of FF Forums: The newest FF game is the worst in the series no matter what until the next one comes out, then it was fine all along.

Rule #2 of FF Forums: The people that said the game will be the worst ever will still go out and buy it anyway.

Rule #3 of FF Forums: They will deny liking it and will act like it's the worst game ever until the next one is out

Personally I can't wait for this to come out so that I can discuss the parts of FFXIII-2 I liked (which is most of it other than the ending which is the worst in gaming history), without having to worry about mouth breathing FF Forum mentality screaming at me for daring to have an opinion that is not "All FF games suck, except for that one you like which is really the worst the series."

Norrmally, I would agree with you Firewind, I loved FFVIII, IX, X, X-2, XI and XII while the world did nothing but shower hate on them for their time.

FFXIII, however, is misery incarnate. There is nothing enjoyable about it and I stopped caring before I got to the end. FFXIII-2 was a good game maligned by cash-in DLC, which I refuse to pay into on principle. FFXIV could have been the game the world hated on, but even with all its problems it has avoided that fate.

FFX-2 is ten times the game either of those games are. Let that sink in. I would rather and have played 100+ hours of FFX-2 because it was actually fun despite the throwaway story and it was filled with worthy challenges. FFXIII was just a time vampire with no passion.

In all seriousness I really enjoyed that presentation. It's good to see developers who still really care and feel passionate about what they're making, and not just in it for the cash. It's why I love Kojima & others' stuff so much. There are other important factors too, but it does feel like a lot of games have been released in recent years where the guys making them just didn't care enough.

I, personally, liked FFXIII, but not so much FFXIII-2. I'm actually intrigued about what they'll end up doing for FFXIII-3. Hence, "3rd times the charm?" comment.

Didn't Wada recently state that Versus was still in the works?

Though, on that note, DNF did become a game (arguably), eventually . . .

FFXIV could have been the game the world hated on, but even with all its problems it has avoided that fate.

It arguably had a worse fate: it was the game that the world flat-out ignored. For the most part, only past and present XI fans could care enough about XIV to bother spending the trivial amount of energy to care about and hate on it.

SE's definitely getting the hype train rolling for 2.0, but will it be enough to finally become the latest FF game that everyone hates?

But let's look at the bright side, at least Type-0 was cheap enough to make not to be hampered by their other White Elephants. Crisis Core followed by Type-0 can't be a coincidence.
