Guild Wars 2

So I thought I'd check it out since its playable at Gamescon. I'm pretty impressed! I might even try it once its out. No fetch quests, they have dynamic questing. The questions asked in the beginning of the game, influence the your story in the game. Instanced areas. I only watched 1-5 but I found 3 & 4 extremely interesting. (Just started up Part 6 and wow is the city pretty right in the beginning when she's standing on the glass structure!)

Part 8 boss fight with a sweet dragon!

and it carries over to Part 9. Sixty people doing the boss fight. Everyone is rewarded and gets exp.

Actually, I was just counting off the online RPGs coming out. I have no interest in returning to WoW after the trial I had in January

I'm just getting the DS and PSP games.

Are those guaranteed to roll out this year? SW TOR is also one of the bigger names and was suppose to come out this year but Bioware is probably having some issues with development.

I've been following this game for a while as well. I played Guild Wars when it first came out, and was really impressed with the first game. Just the thing that I hated was that it was just all instanced. But GW2, is going to have world battle.

lol. I could play both since one will be F2P, and the other P2P. I will be quitting WoW when one or the other comes out, as I am tired of the game again.

Just play one one day, then the next play the other. lol

Could only stomach two videos I found on Youtube on Guild Wars 2; couldn't bear to watch more.

Talk about bad voice acting and cheesy script. Did they hire B movie rejects for actors and high school students as writers? The two I watched can give some of the dubbed anime seriously competition for grating ears.

I've been following GW2 for a while, every time I see more I'm more and more impressed. Their manifesto video made some pretty bold statements, it was good to see some of it in action with the Gamescon videos, I can't wait to play it.

At the moment its the only thing I want to play as much as FFXIV, possibly even more so.

I agree with you on that. I am done with FFXI, and WoW, and I don't want to try any of the others as they don't interest me. I am tired of the same old boring grind that most MMOs have as well.

Here's something I found interesting while searching for more guildwars 2 information. The leveling curve is fairly straight unlike most MMOs, which I like. I always HATED the grind in almost most (If not all mmorpgs). If you want to take a look at it, here it is.

Yeah, good luck generating content, moderating the servers and maintenance without monthly fees.

If they expect this to work, they're going to have to bring out those expansions more frequently than the average MMO, but something tells me a microtransaction system - the kiss of death - will come sooner than later. They'll have to swallow that pride at some point, calling it now.

Actually. GW1, is still up and running perfectly fine with their free to play system. They run micro transactions, like extra character slots, unlocking all of the PVP/PVE abilities and such. Its nothing too game breaking, and it doesn't bother other players. Also, the stuff is only like $5 so its very cheap.

GW is the only game that I have seen to pull of micro transactions perfectly, and they are still able to keep it running perfectly fine/keep coming out with new content/holiday events and so on.

Important distinction:

Guild Wars is not and never was an MMORPG. It was a Diablo clone. To be an MMORPG:

- The server hosts the games and the instances, not a host player
- Persistent world, Guild Wars never had this
- Player driven economy

These are the defining aspects of an MMORPG. If Guild Wars is an MMORPG, then Phantasy Star and Monster Hunter Tri are MMORPGs.

They're not.

Guild Wars 2, on the other hand, has all the qualities of an MMORPG. A "no fee" system will not be sustainable unless there is regular add-on content.
