I can't skip a minute at my part-time, can't even go to google or check my cellphone without getting told. No sympathy here at all.

Playing WII on the job? Most people cant even check their phone message, even on their break. Why give the police any leverage? Hence why I hate the police. They think the law doesn't affect them.

Oh for pete's sake, this gets so blown out of proportion by the media. While it wasn't right to do what they did the media makes it sound like they were beating suspects or stealing from this guys house. They had a house to search and most were doing the job of searching and cataloging. One or two were playing the Wii instead of searching.....wrong but big whoopie. All that will come of this is a slap on the wrist and a rep put in their file.....and the scumbags lawyers trying to use it in court to discredit the police force. How about the media reporting news that actually matters?

Regarding the outcome of the Wii incident, you can't expect the police to dole out any reasonable punishments against its own employees. There's little incentive to do so. | |

My Mood: | Re: Cops "busted" for playing Wii Quote: THAT one especially should have been plastered all over the news but I didn't hear about it one bit. They can have cops playing a Wii all over national news like its the end of the world but a cop doing 911 Call Released In Everett Officer-Involved Fatal Shooting - News Story - KIRO Seattle <---THAT we don't even hear about. The news media, paper and television, need a f**king overhaul.

We love every chance to talk trash about cops and generally distrust them, and at the same time we expect them to be completely devoid of any of the deficiencies the rest of us have. People get to play FFXI while they work, ffs. It's not like their job is non-stop Jack Bauer. I had about 5 police officers at my apartments just an hour ago (the apartment above me. they haven't found me yet). After they were done with their business, they stood around and chit-chatted with each other outside my front window for 5-10 minutes. Do I mind that they're having a pow-wow instead of tracking down the next big manhunt? Nope. They're human, they're at work, and work demands breaks. --- Not to say playing Wii at the scene of a raid is an OK thing to do. But hey, they already found drugs, the guy's stuff is prolly gonna get repo'd away anyway. It's not every police officer's job to find forensics everywhere. I see this exactly like when I'd go on delivery runs with my old boss and she'd decide we could take 4 hours to do a 30 minute job.

When your job entails being ready to go at a moment's notice and quite possibly meaning the difference between life & death, no excuses.
