I just bought Infinite Undiscovery which was published by SE, and it had DLC....it was free though...
The game was developed by Tri-Ace=, SE just helped distribute it - SE has no investment in the game otherwise. Since the game originally appeared on Xbox exclusively, its natural that MS is going to want them to release download content of some kind. It also encourages lazy developers to continue being lazy.

All the content for Tales of Vesperia could have just been in the game to start with. RPGs ar e about skill building, yet here you have a game that you have to pony up real life cash to get the skills. That's stupid as hell, I can't blame people for holding on a PS3 version when I see that shit.

Fallout 3 had a ton of issues in every iteration of downloadable expansions, this was content you had to pay $10 a pop for and Bethesda didn't even care to get the bugs sorted out before releasing any of them. I even find it laughable these were considered expansions, given there were three of them within the year the game was released. That's an incomplete game if I've ever seen one.

And they called it "Game of the Year." What a crock.

Re: Proof SE dumbed down FF13 - Get your nerd rage on!

#1) Can't believe you bought that PoS game, it's worth a rent but not buying (you'll see as you get further in).

#2) The DLC for that game was basically additions to the shop to help you get started in crafting and could have easily been included on the disc for free anyway. It actually doesn't add anything new to the game, just basically gives you setting the game to "easy mode" since you can very quickly build up a large reserve of money & max out all your crafts (except Capelle's enchanting; you can't do that until a certain point in the game)

#3) Fallout 3 is, IMO, highly over-rated. Good game, but incredibly over-rated.

Yeah, none of this stuff was additional content or stuff you couldn't get in the game on your own, they added the "buy everything from any shop" DLC in Infinite Undiscovery because there is no method of fast travel in that game. It would be ffffffffffffffucking tedious to manually walk through the entire game backwards trying to level up every craft if you didn't start from the beginning.

The Vesperia DLC was just easy mode shit for kids with money to burn. Want some maxed out inventory, a bunch of levels and all your skills at the start of the game? $5.99 each! You can still play through the game and get all the same things legit, but that takes a whole 50-60 hours! Who has time for that?!

And yes, all of this is on the disc already. The game developers did not do a single minute of work after the game was finished to bring you any of this "extra content". It's all there on the disc and all you are paying for is a line of code that unlocks it for you.

The distribution is what publishers do.

Also: I think Infinite Undiscovery lacked polish but was neat. Not to say it didn't have problems, but calling it a PoS seems a bit harsh.

It *was* a PoS though >_>

It had potential, but towards the end it really felt like it was being squandered. I only finished it because I hate leaving RPG's un-finished (like Skies of Arcadia still kicking myself for never finishing that awesome game)
