Seems to be a negative on the backwards compatability. Well, according to G4. I wouldn't be incredibly surprised if they were wrong.

Not what I was talking about, Sony put a patent on PS2 emulation software. That has nothing to do with the new hardware, but what might be downloadable on it down the road.

In case anyone hasn't heard, they dropped Linux support in the Slim.

(Not that it was used much, and I hear it was a pain in the butt to switch back and forth anyhow.)

I honestly have no idea why Sony keeps flirting with Linux support on their consoles.

If they hadn't locked down the hardware (not to mention the whole '10GB' thing with partitioning), it would've had some very cool possibilities, but as it was it was basically a 'oh hey, and if you don't have a PC, PS3 can kinda-sorta do that too!' deal. Almost totally worthless as it was, though; if you want to check email, watch videos, etc. the PS3 firmware already supports it.
