When a game that makes me give a fuck comes out, I may get one. The price tag is reasonable.

Not that I'm saying the PS3 doesn't have any good games. But none of them appeal to me enough to actually make me buy a whole new console.

That pic of it actually looks less ugly that the mock-up placed with the rumor.

OK, $299 sounds good to me. Now I just have to see what Nintendo does with the Wii's pricepoint in reaction to this.

I'll still probably not get a PS3 til early next year, though. There's still enough to catch up on with DS, PSP and PS2 to keep me satisfied.

Well, that PS2 emulation rumor resurfaced again on Magic Box the other day, so PS2 compatibility is still a wait-and-see factor.

I'm in a hard place this generation.

Nintendo isn't doing anything I want, except the stuff that really matters; and Sony is doing most of what I want, except the stuff that really matters. Which leads to me being content, but underwhelmed at Nintendo, and unable to be satisfied by Sony.

Sony is like the guy who has everything, except letting you come back to his place.

I was never much of a Sony fan - I don't care about graphics enough to pay extra - it's just that some of the games you want inevitably end up on their consoles. So I can't really say Sony is dead to me since I never really liked them that much anyways.

Also I liked things better when there were only 2 consoles in the war at any given moment. You had one, a friend had the other, all was good!

Well they could not do that in the first place most likely because of the chip die size; since it has been shrunk a few times this year, the cpu requires less power, thus less head is being released upon use. Also i think the intial size of the PS3 was because of the backwards compatibility PS2 board the first one was supposed release with.

Seems to be a negative on the backwards compatability. Well, according to G4. I wouldn't be incredibly surprised if they were wrong.

Well bust my buttons, they are actually going to do something right and lower the price. A blu for 299 and a gaming system too is a very good price point imo. I think the PS3 Slim might be a big seller this Christmas so grab one early if you really want one!

Ya that picture was the one I saw over a month ago. I knew that ugly mock up originally posted could not be the official version but I didn't think that the one I saw previously would be either. Let's just hope they throw us a bone and give us a matte finish or different colors or something.
