To be honest, unlike what thier antics with FFXI would lead to to belive SE aren't stupid. There's no way that SE would ignore the 360 for thier flagship series considering how big the market is for the console outside of Japan. Personally I think they were already planning to bring it out on the 360 and were already developing it for the 360 before announcing it was going to be multiplatform.

The PS3 version is finished, and the are coding the 360 version now, thats the main reason its not released yet. Both versions will be the same, but the PS3 version will be at a higher rez and HQ textures. Again really its nothing but fanboyism.

Anyone that screams "omg the game will look shitty on the PS3 now because of 360" is ignorant.

Considering usually SE develops for the lowest common denominator I don't think it would be too farfetched to think they would actually have toned down the game in order to give both consoles "similar experiences".

But there's no way of knowing if that's the case until Versus is out, since it's supposed to be a PS3 exclusive.

SE "usually" develops for the lowest common denominator? No, they usually develop for the platforms they'll sell the most copies of a game on. Just like they always have, the only exception here is Sony escalated things between the companies with their failure to support FFXI.

So they decided to make a PC version of FFXI.
Then they made a deal with Nintendo to make games with them again.
Then they put FFXI on 360 and published other games on it to test the waters.

Good idea, because when they saw how PS3s were selling like ass sandwiches (in high-definition, of course), they saw 360s and Wiis were selling more in the US. Let's make games for those, too.

Oh, and FFXIII for 360. More FFCC games for Wii, and Chocobo, too.

DS gets more SE love because, well, its cheap to produce for and handheld gaming is all the rage in Japan. 3 million copies of DQIX sold in its first two weeks. I don't think they're sweating this decision - its almost pure profit when you think about it.

All of this is a stark contrast to when the PS2 generation began with SE. Hell, they weren't even SE until FFX-2 got out there. They merged with another company and broke from the stupid idea of adhering to one platform because the gaming world was just too big for that now. That and Nintendo prints money like crazy.

I don't think anyone is dumb enough to believe they weren't considering the 360 port from a very early stage of development. Like they suddenly woke up one day (very recently) and decided to "also" port it to the 360.
