Re: SC2 Battle Report 2!

I meant the broodling spell should be able to hit air, not the broodlings themselves.

I hope they do something to make ultralisks worth using. They're such a cool unit but freakin useless.

Re: SC2 Battle Report 2!

I would say Spring or Summer 2010. The game isn't even in the Beta stage yet, and they have 3 full campaigns to make.

As for ultralisks, they are far from useless TM. The problem is most games don't last long enough to tech up to them, but sending in ultralisks backed up by upgraded zerglings is a classic that can tear down a base easily. Personally I'm a little miffed now that they've had 2 match ups and both times Kim has been Terran, but hasn't bothered with Siege Tanks.

I freaking want to see the new Siege Tanks in action! They cost more but they're much tougher now.

Remember that they're making each campaign a separate release this time.

Re: SC2 Battle Report 2!

Yes and that was my point. We still don't know if they'll all be released on the same day or spread out.

I hope it's all on the same day, and they damn well better have some kind of bundle deal. The hell if I'm paying $150.00 or more.

Re: SC2 Battle Report 2!

What is the StarCraft II Trilogy?

The StarCraft II Trilogy consists of the base StarCraft II game and two subsequent expansion sets. StarCraft II is subtitled Wings of Liberty (working title) and will include a lengthy single-player campaign that focuses on the terrans and puts players in the role of Jim Raynor, one of the series' main heroes. The first expansion set, Heart of the Swarm (working title), will follow later and include a single-player campaign focusing on the zerg and Kerrigan, Queen of Blades. The second expansion set, Legacy of the Void (working title), will continue the story experience with a single-player campaign centered on the protoss.
Source: StarCraft II

So there will likely be a significant gap between releases of the campaigns. But ..
Quote:
How long is each of the campaigns?

StarCraft II's terran campaign will consist of approximately 26 to 30 missions, and each expansion set will include a similar number of missions. This means that the complete StarCraft II Trilogy will include as many as 90 single-player missions. This allows us to create a truly epic story experience with a great variety of unique missions and gameplay types.
it sounds like each campaign is going to be as long or longer than all the original Starcraft campaigns combined. So we're not completely getting the shaft. Unless all you care about is multiplayer. Then you're most likely going to end up paying three digits just to stay current and be able to play.

This is the part that worries me. I don't have any problem buying only the first one they release if it means I can play online with every race.

What I do have a problem with is the wording "expansion set," because to me expansion set means "new missions/maps/units etc" and if they actually make each subsequent expansion include enough new shit such that not buying them would be the equivalent of not buying Brood Wars then Blizzard can eat my ass.

Re: SC2 Battle Report 2!

Those Nighthawks looked pretty imba to me with that massive damage aoe missile. Maybe it's just that the zerg was expanding and massing instead of teching, but holy crap, they wiped the floor with whole armies.

Of course, the game is still in development - maybe Nighthawks *are* imba and will be nerfed before release.

Either way, it looks like an interesting game, I just hope the system requirements won't be too insane.

Uh, you have that completely backwards. If all you care about is Multiplayer you're fine because each of the 3 releases will have full multiplayer content; the only difference between them is the campaign. They stated this quite some time ago thankfully.

And the hawks are fine. If you listen to the commentary, he was getting off far more missiles than he should have due to Cooper blowing his board position. And the AoE damage is actually minor (plus when the Hydras were shooting back those hawks didn't last terribly long)

No, YOU are the one who is teh wrong!

How will the expansion sets impact multiplayer gameplay?

The expansion sets will add new content to each race for use in multiplayer matches. This could include additions such as new units, abilities, and structures, along with new maps and Battle.net updates.
Same source.

The missles did seem really good but the zerg did similar things with Banelings early in the game. The 'lings seem to take a little more work to get in a position for a good ambush, but as the commentary noted the damage from the HK missles could be minimized with good micro.

Btw, what is "imba?"

Also btw, did anyone else notice how the Nighthawks have a similar profile to the Ikaruga, and would occasionally flip over when idle? If that's a deliberate nod and not just a coincidence coupled with unfinished banking code that gets a big :3 from me.

Thumbs down Re: SC2 Battle Report 2!

imba = imbalanced

ie way too good, broken as fuck, but I don't think the missiles are that bad. Kind of lame that burrowing didn't work to dodge them, but that didn't work in SC1 anyway. And really, the only one that died in that group was the one that took a direct hit, so the splash damage isn't that insane.

Also, Ikaruga wins. I didn't even realize the similarity, now I have to go back and watch it again just to catch that.

EDIT: Is this site ever going to work properly again in Firefox? I can only post if I don't allow it in NoScript but that forces everything I type into one body of text regardless of how I format it, and if I allow the site it refuses to recognize anything I type in.

That's weird, I don't have that problem.

Pages do seem to be loading slowly around here lately for me though.

Re: SC2 Battle Report 2!

WTF then, they've completely contradicted their original statement then those ASSFUCKS!

I distinctly recall watching the video of Blizzcon where they explicitly stated each version would contain the full multiplayer release. and the only differences would be the campaigns and the few units that are unique to said campaigns.

EDIT: Found it! StarCraft II Video Game, BlizzCon 2008: Trilogy Details (Cam) HD | Game Trailers & Videos | GameTrailers.com

Says RIGHT THERE and I QUOTE:

Quote:
Nothing changes for multiplayer and skrimish. All races will be fully implemented.

Re: SC2 Battle Report 2!

I think they mean that just because they're only releasing the Terran campaign at first doesn't mean you'll only be able to play Terran in multiplayer. All races will be fully implemented in the sense of being fully playable, having complete tech trees and being playbalanced. Of course in an expansion you would expect them to build on the existing gameplay as in Brood War.
