It'd be cool to play an FF game just once with a more Devil May Cry playstyle.

So far Kingdom Hearts is the closest thing to that but it's still not quite right (and far too kiddy IMO. But I still love the series ^_^)


I'd like to see FFXI's combat tweaked to actually allow proper use of the controller; that is no more auto-attack but manual swings and possibly combos as is standard in action games. Maybe spell combos too >.>, and actually factoring in where you hit and the range of your weapon.


But it'll never happen

and fuck AoC. What is so wrong about wanting FFXI with more interactive and realistic combat? Or do you have a problem with speculation all of a sudden.

On topic, I wonder if the summons' new abilities to become vehicles/weapons/etc will actually factor into combat. I mean, will there be times where you can have Shiva become a motorcycle and then have an FF7-like road rash moment?

Malacite: How in the fuck is pressing X over and over more "intuitive" or "realistic" than clicking "Attack"? It's a goddamn video game. You're pressing buttons. That's not realistic, unless you happen to have a lot of drugs around. You don't start talking about what's more realistic until FFXI gets a Wii port.

Because speculation isn't wishing for something to happen that hasn't been hinted at and is not even within the realm of possibility after a game's been established for over six years. Its just plain wishing.

Speculation is pontificating about things that haven't happened yet, but are in the realm of possibility. Since the future is undefined, there's no harm in speculation. We often tend to be wrong about what we speculate anyway.

Your "speculation" would be more of a Retcon Punch were SE to take it seriously. It wouldn't make sense and it would fuck FFXI up.

As for your hoping that Shiva can be employed out of fixed instances, that is speculation. We don't know how Shiva will function as a motorcycle (as retarded as that sounds already).

But yeah that was actually another thing I didn't care for about 12 at all... that all the classic summons were just used to name the imperial fleet.
