[Pai Pai Master]

Tokyo Games Show kicks off tonight, in about an hour with Microsoft's keynote address. Nintendo and Sony are not giving addresses this year; though Sony will be present on the show floor to show their titles.

Games, games, games. Lots of big games to be shown at this year's show. It's been relatively quiet up until this week, so no one really knows what surprises to expect, if any.

I'll update this thread as new stuff breaks out.

Random Newsy Tidbits:

-TEKKEN 6: Bloodline Rebellion is coming to PS3 and 360 in Fall 2009.

-LittleBigPlanet is getting Snake and Sephiroth sackboys.







-Patapon 2 will follow a new business model for PSP games from Sony. UMD version (4,890 yen) will
release day and date with the PSN for PSP version (3,800 yen).

-PSN for PSP will go live on October 15th. PlayStation Network Online Game Service for PSP will enter beta on October 30th.

-Wireless Keypad for DualShock 3 Controller will release on December 18th for 5,500 yen.

-Sony's trying out a new feature called "PSP Plus." The only instance right now is with Resistance: Retribution. If you have a PS3, a PSP-2000 or PSP-3000 and a copy of R2 and R:R, you can output the game to your TV and control it using your DualShock 3. You'll get rumble support and customizable controls using the DualShock 3's added buttons and stick.

-Halo 3 Recon is a new standalone game for Xbox 360. It launches in Fall 2009 and is a prequel to the original game, featuring a new main character and new gameplay.



-Star Ocean: The Last Hope releases February 19th in Japan, March 3rd in North America.

-The New Xbox Experience goes live on November 19th.

-FINAL FANTASY Versus XIII: The prince is named Noctis. The heroine is named Stella.

-FINAL FANTASY XIII: The pigtailed girl has a name, it is Senon.

-Bartz, Exdeath, Terra and Cloud are confirmed for Dissidia: FINAL FANTASY. The full lineup is as follows:





-Q! Entertainment is developing 99 Nights 2 for Xbox 360.

-Quantum Theory is a new fantasy third-person shooter from Tecmo exclusive to PS3. It's Tecmo's first game to use Unreal Engine 3.

Well, Nintendo had thier show last week, all things considered, I expect the only real big news to be third party news at this point.

I also expect to see more PS3 exclusivity obliterated and Sony fanbots scrambling for petitions asking companies to "stay loyal" to Sony.

MS does have some upper hand in the Japanese market now and so this is a very important show for them, particularly considering more Japanese RPGs are out on 360 than PS3 currently, if they can get some exclusives from SE, Level 5 or Atlus, that could be major.

Wouldn't mind hearing some details on the Kingdom Hearts DS and PSP games, along with dates for those, along with news of the new Shin Megami Tensei game. There's gotta be something about that.

Resident Evil:Umbrella Chronicles answered this. One can assume Claire and Leon stayed behind while Jill and Chris took on Tyrant X or w/e it was called.


Also, I'm all for Claire getting more screentime. Claire ftw.

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days has been pushed back to Feb 09 for Japan.

Xion (the 14th member) is seemingly becoming more important, as she was in a lot of the scenes in the new trailer behind the closed doors. She's brunette and has a special birth like Roxas.

Still no release date for KH: Birth By Sleep for than 2009. Only real new thing that was shown was Aqua gameplay. She floats around and uses her keyblade without touching it (much like Final Form from KH2)

Capcom always does this though, they start a story arc and then just jump ahead however many years and say "yeah, screw explaining how that last story ended or showing it".

The Mega Man series is the worst for it but they've done it for all their major titles (I'm looking at YOU Nero)
