It's not stupid. He learned how to do two jobs, why should he stick to one?

Sure, they make you stay as a PLD in FFIV because it'd be kind of odd and awkward to introduce a job change mechanic into an FF that doesn't use it, for exactly one character, but otherwise, it isn't a contradiction for him to be able to call upon the abilities of both jobs.

Also, yeah, it's kind of lame how most melees end up with swords.

I liked him as both, but he shined (no pun intended) as a Paladin ;p

I am also interested in Terra and Kefka, want to see how they work out, and if Terra gets her Esper change.

Yes, she morphs. It'd be silly if she couldn't given all the other character's abilities (Onion Knight's job change, Cecil's PLD/DRK switch, etc.)
