My Mood: | Re: PS3 Games? If you can find it for a reasonable price, yes. I found it to be quite interesting and fun. Sort of a JRPG meets Pokemon meets God of War. 3rd person action combat of God of War, with the creature-collecting-for-upgrades element of Pokemon, plus some mild talk-to-the-townsfolk-and-unfold-the-story elements of a JRPG. Definitely an underrated title, IMO, and it has a neat storyline too. Icemage |

I wouldn't pay more than $20 for Folklore. Imo, its just not worth it. In fact, I tell people to rent it first because its the type of game that only certain people will like.

Must-haves on PS3: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots: If nothing else, this. Folklore: Rent first if you can't find it cheap; it's very love-or-hate. I'm on the side of love. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue: PSN or Blu-ray. Warhawk: PSN or Blu-ray + Headset. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune: 2nd best title on the platform, IMO. Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction: Great, fun game, but single-player only if that's a problem for you. Expansion with multiplayer and new SP campaign rumoured to be coming soon. Resistance: Fall of Man: Sequel comes out this year and the first was light on story, so I'd only recommend if you're dying to play and can find it for less than $30. Super Stardust HD: Best game on the PSN and best twinstick shooter I've ever played, IMO. Trophy support tomorrow! Pixeljunk Monsters: 2nd best game on the PSN, very very addictive Tower Defense game echochrome: Available on PSN or PSP, both are worth buying for $10 each, great unique puzzle game. QORE Episode One: It's on PSN, get it for the SOCOM Beta which starts soon. Upcoming exclusives worth looking to: Valkyria Chronicles: Very cool looking strategy-action-shooter-RPG from SEGA coming this fall. Excellent art direction. Out in September. Pixeljunk Eden: Can't really explain it other than 3-player Mario + Pikmin on acid. Comes out some time soon, probably next week. WipEout HD: The perfect game for a WipEout fan, or anyone who's never played it before. Great futuristic racer with amazing visuals and music. Release TBA, should be this month. Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm: One of the most impressive fighters I've ever seen. If you're a fan of Naruto or the fighter series, it's worth picking up if you can get over the lack of online play. Release this fall. SOCOM: Confrontation: Only recommendable if you like SOCOM-style gameplay. Looks to bring out the best of the first two games with great new additions. Hits in August. Disgaea 3: If you're a Disgaea fan it's another must-have. It'll be huge as always and still $49.99. Out in August. LittleBigPlanet: One of the most unique and innovative titles of the year, looks very enjoyable. Beta reported to start soon so keep an eye out. Out in October. Resistance 2: PS3's top title for the 2nd half of the year. It's definitely gonna be worth it and there will be a beta beginning soon. Hits in November. White Knight Chronicle: Release is TBA for this year, may be early next year. Either way it looks to be the first AAA RPG on the PS3. From Level 5, developers of Dragon Quest VIII and Dark Cloud.

Don't have Valkyria Chronicles myself, but LBP is definately epic win on a massive scale. Resistance though just seems like every other FPS I've played, which doesn't make it bad in any way, it just doesn't stand out to me. Though I do love the pistol. Oh boy do I love that pistol.

Yeah me too XD That's how I knew the game was gold. When the first weapon they give you kicks ass, you know it's good :3 |

Fallout 3 is great. Similar to Oblivion (both Bethesda titles) in many aspects, but different enough to still offer a ton of great content. All 3 platform versions apparently have issues and glitches, but it sounds like the PS3's issues aren't as bad as the PC version. Definitely worth buying if you have the money. And yes, LBP is a must have title for every PS3 owner. You are missing out big if you don't pick it up. One of the few games these days that actually lived up to its hype, and probably surpassed it. |

I'm on the fence about Fallout 3. To me it just seems like Bioshock but in a post apocalyptic world.

There's similarities, but Fallout plays more like a first-person adventure as opposed to FPS. Incorporating character customization a la RPG style with open, non-linear real-time gameplay in a giant sandbox world, Fallout is more role-playing and decision making than it is shooter/fighter. I'd recommend it as a rental at the very least. After you get into the gameplay and get into the story, it's up to you to decide if it's worth the $60 investment. As for me, after this post I'm headed back to Capitol Wasteland. |

yeah, I've only had the opportunity to screw around with fallout 3 in demo kiosks, but it's far closer to Elder Scrolls than any Halo/Gears/Bioshock FPS.

Fallout 3 was far too short and glitchy for me to waste $60 on and thats saying a lot for me since I tend to waste a lot of money on gaming. I think its an absolute must to rent. Patch it and drop the price to $30 and then its a must buy.

I've been buried under PS3 games the last few weeks. My copies of Resistance 2 and Fallout 3 are still in their shrink-wrap because I just haven't had a chance to get to them. In the last month I've picked up: Rock Band 2 (amazing!) Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm (surprisingly good) Motorstorm: Pacific Rift (also surprisingly good) LittleBigPlanet (if you own a PS3 and don't own this game, you fail at life) Eternal Sonata (gorgeous JRPG) Bioshock (fantastic game, and the new features are cool) Valkyria Chronicles (anime meets Jagged Alliance. Awesome stuff!) Fallout 3 (not yet opened) Resistance 2 (not yet opened) Tomorrow I pick up Mirror's Edge, too... Icemage |

The new Naruto isn't anything new really in terms of a fighting game. However, my jaw hit the floor when I saw the animation. Now, I'm not a big fan of cell shading by any stretch of the imagination, but by God they really out did themselves this time. If more anime games were of that caliber or greater, then I may just have to change my opinion of cell shading. Same goes for Valkyria Chronicles, the water color + Cell shading is too pretty for words. My major beef with Resistance 2 atm is twofold; People being totally retarded in Co-op (i.e. Medics charging in first ahead of everyone and never reviving people) and really, really bad spawn points. The last game I was in I got spawned over 200 meters away from the group. WTF is that?! |
