Is it just me or does this game have some of the most solid art direction we've seen out of SE's publishing gates in a while? The character designs are phenomenal. Not to mention the godly music.

Tri-Ace, SE is only publishing it. SE publishes various 360 titles. SE has been publishing a lot of Tri-Ace's stuff.

That said, its nice to see the occasional game that actually has art direction, this generation of games has been severely lacking in that regard.

If you're furrowing your brow over that statement, I'll clarify:

Good Graphics =/= Good Art Direction

Yeah, I know, as I said "SE publishing gates," but I do agree with you. While there are plenty of similar games I can cite as having very nice art direction so far this gen (FolkLore, Senjou no Valkyria/Valkyria Chronicles, TrustyBell/Eternal Sonata) there are quite a few more that have been lacking in that department.

Particularly for a new or low-class IP coming out of SE's realm, this one has some very strong art design backing it. Other similar SE-related projects like The Last Remnant and Project Sylpheed are some of their weakest titles ever in that regard. The fact that this game resembles a Mistwalker project and it's a new IP coming from Tri-Ace is amazing, but it's not surprising given recent titles like VALKYRIE PROFILE 2: Silmeria.

If you get a 360 Pai, I highly recommend getting/renting Lost Odyssey too. Traditional JRPG and I enjoyed it a lot. Eternal Sonata was absolutely gorgeous but flat. Enchanted Arms....BACK AWAY FROM THE VIDEO GAME! lol Blue Dragon is again a traditional anime-style JRPG but it is also very good, imo.

Now, I have nothing against you not wanting to buy a 360-- I personally refuse to buy any MS product I don't have to, 360 included. However, if you cannot accept that a console you will not buy has games you want to play, you should not be refusing to buy it. Either learn to accept that you will never be able to play all the games you want and stop bitching, or buy a 360 and stop bitching.

I don't recommend Blue Dragon Pai. I didn't enjoy the story of the game I didn't even got to Disc 2 when I got totally bored and lost interest. The characters are also unloveable. So little back story, so little life.

Lost Odyssey is just ok. I like the old school RPG turn base battle, it's easy to understand and it simply works. But the pace of the storyline bores me sometimes. And maybe it's an xbox thing, it likes to freeze itself once in a while.

Lost Odyssey's Tales of a Tousand Year mini-story is the most charming thing and really enjoyable tho. It's probably the first time since Suikoden 2 that a game could have so much imotional impact on me. It's completely seperate from the main storyline however and can be distracting.

Sadly so far, the best game on my 360 has been Symphony of the Night, downloaded from xbox live at ... hmmmm can't remember but really cheap.

To each their own, I enjoyed Blue Dragon a lot. It was like being in an anime. A lot of RPG's bog down at some point and get slow but if you didn't even play the entire game, how can you say it sucked?

Lost Odyssey's story never bored me. As with most RPG's, having to grind bored me at times but then again I like to have all options open so I wanted every Immortal to have every single skill learned.....that can take a while. LOL My game never froze on me once so it might just be your x-box.

I don't know how you can say that the Thousand Year Story is seperate from the storyline. It's the background for that particular Immortal. It gives you a look into what its like to be an Immortal so you can understand their mindset in the game.

If you think about it TGM, you're about to step into the next room with a boss waiting for you. Your heart's pumping and you're ready for battle. Then Kaim sees something on the wall and bam, you go into romantic thousand-year-of-dream mode.

Once the dream is over, you go, what was I about to do? Oh yea, the boss.....

The dreams are great. But sometimes you just start dreaming in the middle of other things just like that.

About blue dragon, personal preference. If I'm a professional reviewer publishing my review in major magazines/websites I guess it will be my job to play till the end. Sorry, I'm just another casual player so no. If the game isn't fun for me, there's no reason I have to tolerate it till the end before I can critique it.

I'm refusing to buy it on the grounds that there's a 30% chance I'll be seeing the red ring of death within a month, and from there I will have to deal with Microsoft's abysmal customer service.

I accept that I can't play these games. That doesn't mean I accept the 360 as a real console as long as 30% of them are still bricking and the only decent titles for the consoles would never have touched the console in the first place if Microsoft wasn't paying out the ass for them.

They integrate the dreams with whats going on in the game at the time though so I totally don't understand what you are saying. You are just annoyed because you want to keep moving and you get caught in a dream? You do realize you can skip it right? You do have the option of accessing the dreams at any time, no? I do not remember having a dream right before any big boss fights either.
