Cave Story's 3D revamp comes to eShop on October 4 | Joystiq

Nicalis also swears this is totally the last time they re-release this game, this is the totally final, ultimate, definitive version - now in 3D with pixels rather than polygons. This version is really just the PC version of Cave Story + from Steam, but its nice 3DS seems to get the PC updates even if there's a wait.

Though in this case they won't be upgrading you from the DSi Version, so you gotta pay. The DSi version will be delisted come October 4th so this can take its place however if you already own the DSi Ware version, you'll still have access to redownloading that version - you just won't be able to buy it after.

So if the 3DS, Wii, PC and Steam versions aren't an option for you and DSi actually is, you might want to jump on that before its delisted.

Still playing BF3. The expansions have been disappointing. The first introduced new maps, but it turned out that they could only be played on special game modes. Since I only play, and expect I should only ever have to play, Rush, Conquest, and TDM, I wont be seeing these maps. The second expansion, Armored Kill, is by far their laziest yet. They introduced a few sparse, but large, maps made specifically for vehicle-play. It would have been more impressive, but they recycled a lot of assets from the base game. The maps feature old textures and buildings, while the new vehicles are just re-skins of some of the classics. The Gunship, the jewel in the expansion's crown, is literally an amalgamation of classic vehicles on a plane that flies in circles too far away from the ground for any weapons to be accurate. Disappoint. Battlefield 2142 had a single booster pack, which introduced a new mode that was almost different enough to be considered a new game.

I do enjoy the Assignments, which are simple tasks to complete to unlock more weapons or dog tags. It puts enough of a spin on the way I play to keep things interesting, but I'm playing on all the same maps. It would nice to see something fresh without having to see it in Conquest Extra Large Tall or Double Squad Rush (REMIX) ft. Salty Jay.

I picked up the Humble Bundle and tried out Dustforce last night.

That game is a bit of a mixed bag. It feels like the sort of level design that could induce zen trances, but the controls are a little quirky at times so it doesn't flow as well as it should. It can flow, but the responses aren't what they should be. Still, when it works it's beautiful.

Clearly we aren't playing the same game. I think you just have it out for EA/DICE honestly. The majority if players (myself included) have loved all 3 expansions so far. That's not to say they're perfect, but DICE has done a good job overall. My issues with AK are the lack of players on Console, making the games a little stale and the AC-130. I don't feel like they should have even added it, because that thing by it's very design is meant to be overpowered. People are (rightly) bitching about how impossible it is to win as the Defenders in Rush because the enemy has so much armor already, + the AC-130 raining death & Paratroopers.

Meanwhile in CQ, the thing's a fucking joke. People run Engineer almost exclusively, plus there's all the Jets, the Mobile AA's, Mobile Artillery, Helicopters.... you just can't stay in the air for more than 45s on average. The damn thing takes too much damage, doesn't have air radar, and it's AA cannons are pathetically weak. Jets and Helicopters don't exactly have the strongest armor in the world, they shouldn't be able to get up close in the range of those AA Cannons it's bullshit. Hell, DICE actually showed some restraint too only giving it the 25mm and 105 - no 40. Dear lord had they included the 40 as well I think people would be screaming bloody murder.

I'm hoping Aftermath will be better. They gotta stop with the retarded assignment requirements as well (claymore & landmine kills? A 350m Headshot with the L96? F off.)

Which reminds me, they were supposed to have buffed claymore damage as well as mortar dmg & splash last patch, but I guess that got cut. Still waiting on a vertical recoil reduction for the G3A3 too (can't understand for the life of me why they nerfed the UMP.45's max range...)

What three expansions? I've only seen Close Quarters and Armored Kill, both of which require seeking out servers that run them as specialty. Maybe it's easier to find a server running them on console, but they've never been a big hit on the PC. After playing a bit more of Armored Kill, I doubt I'm missing much, and I'm sure Aftermath will be the same way. They'll toss the game back into the blender, throw in a few more ingredients, and in the end it wont be much more different than what came before it.

If they want to do right by me, they can add more assignments. They would also need more support for the original game types, Rush, Conquest, and TDM. I think TDM, especially, is a bit of a diamond in the rough. There seem to be "politics" unique to each map, such as competing for control over advantageous positions, that really set it apart from a simple death-match. It becomes an intense game of capture and hold without cheesy way-points or beacons. Lastly, they need to stop including that bullshit anti-air vehicle. It's equally effective at destroying everything on the map, be it soldiers, vehicles, or aircraft. If it sees you, it kills you, so there's very little play or wiggle room involved in the encounter.

Picked up Tokyo Jungle and Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit this week.

Tokyo Jungle is... I have no words to describe. It's not a particularly good game, but you just have to marvel at the level of insanity on display. It's like a video game adaptation of The Lord of the Flies featuring animal escapees from a zoo.

Hell Yeah! is a 2D platfromer with tons of cartoony blood. I haven't gotten far enough into the game to really give impressions.

You'll get ME2 Cerberus Network pass and the online pass for ME3 in the set, but that's it. Either its EA being lazy or Sony and their new weird "collection exclusivies" thing. Probably the former considering how well DA:O UE did with all the DLC being in it and people liking that version more.

Also seems kinda bone-headed that EA never planned this for Wii U, instead going on to repeat the weirdness of the PS3 ME2 release with Wii U's ME3 release.

EA's FIFA 13 on Wii is also, just FIFA 12 with a new number and a roster change. Traditionally that would be a joke made about any annual sports release with EA, this time its the literal truth. This after cancelling NBA Live 13 on all platforms because they know they're going to get smoked by NBA 2k13.

Yeah so it's official.

I'm done with Capcom. Fuck them to the 9th circle of Hell. That RE6 Demo, was complete and utter GARBAGE. And they even broke their promise of making Leon's segments more like classic RE... it's just more of RE5, but with *worse* controls and by far the worst 3rd person camera I have ever seen.

I don't know how they manage to keep failing like this. Oh wait, that's right, they went and publicly stated they want to make RE more like CoD, and it fucking shows. Except at least CoD can be fun at times and the controls don't completely suck.
