Cranking up the difficulty in games proves to be a good solution to creating a harder way of defeating bosses.

Metal Gear Solid 2:sons of liberty

Solidus Snake on Normal, joke

Solidus Snake on Hard, Damn good challenge

Solidus Snake on EXTREME, Cheezus cripes!

It was hard enough fighthing all 26 Metal Gear Rays in Extreme.
On normal you only fought 8 of the Metal Gear Ray's. But in Extreme, you fight against ALL 26, and they ALL killl you in one hit

come to think of it, most of anything will kill you in one hit on Extreme.

Halo Normal makes me laugh
Halo Hard = feels about right, but still too easy
Halo Legendary = Most parts you can get through. But if anybody has played it in Legendary, ain't the caferteria a bitch come lvl 1? how about when all the Convenant drop ships come down on your on lvl 2?

I'll hate it when I'm at some game shop, and some fanboy garbage guy talkign about. Devil my cry (at the time) saying "yeah yeah I beat it, it was so easy, I died like 5 times, and I had to set it to that easy lvl they ask if I wanted, but yeah, it was easy after I did that".

God.. play Devil May Cry on DANTE MUST DIE mode. Tell me if it's easy. It's doable.. easy... um.. no.

Snafu, while I was reading your post, DMC kept popping into my mind, and then you went ahead and said it. That game has, from my experience, one of the largest jumps in difficulty when you change the settings.

When I first played it, I played it on normal, and eventually gave up on the last fight with Nightmare (or whatever the blob dealio was called) and switched to easy. I then beat the game on easy that night without dying. Later on I was able to beat it on normal without much difficulty and eventually tried hard. I never got around to beating hard before my friend wanted it back.

While speaking of DMC, the sequal was a HUGE disappointment in terms of challenge.

I also just borrowed ZOE2 from a friend of mine and beat it on easy without breaking too much of a sweat, but I can imagine playing it on the hardest settings will provide me with some entertainment.

I've never really ran into a very hard battle, because I always freak out before I fight a boss so I'm always a couple levels over what you should be. So normally the boss is defeated pretty quickly. But the most recent boss I had trouble with was

Tiamat from Xenosaga. OMG, I barley leveled those characters that had to fight him, and then both of them had to be alive. So if one died in the A.G.W.S you had to start over again, and it kept healing itself (those are the worst kinds of bosses, nothing gets me mader than when a boss heals). I must have battled him at least 15 times before he went down. Also all the monsters in that area were so strong, I ended up running from a lot of them:sweat: .

For traces of the love you left inside my lonely heart
Our paths they did cross, though I cannot say just why
We met, we laughed, we held on fast, and then we said goodbye
In your dearest memories, do you remember loving me?
Was it fate that brought us close and now leaves me behind?

The hardest boss I had to deal with was...SEPHIROTH!...for the fact I was only lvl 48 with cloud and everyone else was 43 and below! XD But it took me like 6 hours to finally beat him.

One that particularly stands out is Contra III on snes. Anyone who's played that game on hard knows exactly what I mean. I simply could not beat the last boss on hard, and believe me I tried...oh wait...this is about bosses we HAVE beat...well, the boss of the 4th (or was it the 3rd?) level was probably the hardest for me, the stupid giant skeleton robot dealy that shot homing laser beams out of his eyes, breathed fire and filled the room with bombs...boo-urns.
haha. actually, once you played it enough with your roommates... the game was quite fun on hard =P

hm... i also beat jackal for NES. the boss wasn't hard but just to get him ... ><

haha foreman was easy if you knew your cheese =P i remember playing the spiritual sequel for SNES (i think it was riddick bowe?)and i think they took the cheese out so it was really hard. but you could fight the lowest ranked boxer everytime and eventually get the championship.

mike tyson is easy after the first 1:30 when he does those "dynamite" punches that knock you out. then he's actually really easy.

a lot of kof bosses are hard... i beat the '03 boss recently though. Kyo df+D! =P

i want to say Ninja Gaiden NES but once you learn the patterns for the bosses they are too easy. hmm...

gah, if only i could remember the NES games I played with hard bosses.

The ending bosses in the final fantasy games are always easy and theres always WAY harder bosses in each game for expert players to fight.

The most powerful boss in final fantasy so far is probably Nemesis in FFX; 10 million HP!

Really depends on your setup -if you have super gaurd and certain characters he's not that bad.

Hmm there's a ton of oldschool stuff i just can't really think about from when i was a kido. So i'll go with recent stuff.

Ninja Gaiden: second to last boss on "hard" without using a single life regen item. . . I don't really want to think about it on a harder difficutly lol.

I remember the first time I fought Zeromus on FFIV(II for the lamens). I threw out a meteo and it healed him 9999, that freaked me out.
