Heartsnatcher Latent

When using a HS, is it better to have it in main-hand for more critical hits on your WS? or for off-hand if your using a BD? I'm not sure which is better. Thanks

P.S: Sorry about the "Latent" part of the subject

Re: Heartsnatcher Latent

Well, I'm not sure what the critial level for your attack score is. You need to know that, but here's the formula.

Damage code for HS: 0.06 x (Critical damage modifier) x 30 + 30
Damage code for BD: 33

Basically, you're looking for the highest damage code posting of those two items for WS's that can be critical (especially multi-hits like DE and Evisceration).

Maining HS is good if the 6% crit rate pushes the "adjusted damage code" higher than the 33 posted by BD, but only in that case (that's what the first formula is). 6% of of the critically adjusted damage plus the normal damage vs BD damage. Whichever is higher is the better weapon for WS.

Excuse my ignorance but what is the critcial level for your attack score? I don't think I've heard that before and where can I find it?

http://www.freewebs.co/vzx-01/dmgcalc.htm

It's part of the damage calculation. It's a modifier... specifically (to quote the above source)

When your pDIF is 0.4 and you score a critical hit, your pDIF is raised to 1.4
When your pDIF is 2.3 and you score a critical hit, your pDIF is raised to 3.0
When your pDIF is -0.4 and you score a critical hit, your pDIF is raised to 0.6, but your normal attack will have pDIF=0
# See the melee pDIF graph
Basically, it varies based on the level difference between you and the target your and the attack/defense differential. The calculation is rather cumbersome. If you give me your stats (and a hypothetical meme comparison such as a "high defense" 85th level mob), I (or perhaps some other geekly person) might become curious enough to ballpark it...

---- ADD ----

As an alternative to cumbersome rough calculation, you could survey it with a meripo or high level xp party using a parser.

Re: Heartsnatcher Latent

Eyeballing it, crits are just under 2x damage in general. pDIF assumption of 1 raised to 2 for crits is effectively double. That's what I'll assume.

The formula:

HS Adjusted Damage Code: 0.06 * 60 + 30 = 33.6
Blau Dolch: 33.

This indicates that HS is a better choice for the main hand since the 6% critical bonus is worth about 3.6 damage per hit overall. I don't think I need that much information. Again, this is a rough estimate. Try testing it yourself on 10-20 WS versus the same type and level grade of mob--check your average single-hit WS damage. 100 would be a good survey, but 10-20 should give you some idea. If you want to use multi-hit ws's make sure to correct for misses by counting TP gain from the WS.
