Chicken Knife... and latent?

So, I was in Port Jeuno, heading over to get on the airship for San d'Oria. Once off the airship and outside the docking bay, I used Flee and ran to mog. There was another THF dude that also used Flee. I zoned into MH organized some stuff (over 30sec, I got the message Flee wore off), and went out to Souther San d'Oria (Mog Exit quest PWN.) I noticed the other THF was next to me, running at same speed. Then all of a sudden, he starts running really fast... the movement speed of Flee. I was like BS and examined him... he had a Chicken Knife equiped. I'm aware THF have movement+% equipment (Strider Boots), but he did not have any... it had to have been the Chicken Knife. If the latent on this knife kicks in when you have yellow-red HP, that makes no sense at all. He just EXITED FROM MOG, giving full HP. Even if he didn't register back into San d'Oria MH, he had full HP when this happened.

Could anyone please explain me how the latent effect: Flee kicks in for Chicken Knife? I'm really interested in leveling THF later, and I was planning to obtain this knife. Thank you in advance.

hey kaz ^_^/

Don't you have to change jobs in your MH to get HP back? He wouldn't necessarily have been at full HP, I don't think.

Still, I was under the impression that the trigger for flee on the chicken knife was only activated in battle, upon actual weapon strikes. This makes it nice for farming, but not terribly useful otherwise. Unless you spend a lot of time sprinting away from your exp pts.

So... unless he had just assasxxxxted his moogle and was ditching the scene, I have no idea.

you shoulda asked the dude :p

Full recovery of HP/MP upon entering MogHouse. Don't think it could have been the knife as he didn't have any of the conditions for activating latent effects. My guess, he used one of those speed potions. Saw some guy use one in batallia while running and then just took off.

Chicken Knife activates in combat, akin to acid weapons.

As for him using Flee that soon:

1) Entering your MH replenishes HP/MP
2) Changing main or subjob resets job ability cooldowns (with the exception of 2hr?)

I can verify 2 since I change my subjob to refresh Flee all the time.

Hope that helps,

It's been like that as long as I can remember

(also note that changing jobs dispels buffs (prot/shell/flee/berserk/etc))
