I am picking up THF for the TH ability to get my WHM equipment up to spec.
I was whacking away with some hand-to-hand equipment last night and scraped my way to lvl 6 just before boredom overcome me and I went to bed.
I noticed I acquired the "Steal" job ability so I setup a macro /ja "Steal" <bt>. I saw the animation but never a "Did / did not steal from monster message, is the /ja used on <me> or <bt>.
I noticed in a previous post that it is recommended you have a WAR sub job. Well I will sort that out tonight (Only to lvl 6 as once I go iin Shakrimaze at lvl 11 I won't be coming out until I am lvl 15).
Finally question. Sneak. Is this a Job or weapon skill? Some details on this would be nice.

So the /ja "Steal" <bt> is correct? - Never Underestimate The Power Of A Duck!

Sneak is actually Sneak Attack, which is a job ability that will give you a high-damage crit when you strike an enemy from behind. It can be combined with any Physical WS, to find out if its a physical one, see if it gives TP back.
id make a Macro for Sneak atack to combo if i were you. YOu can do some nice damage. It would be somewhat like this...
/p Using [Combo] on <bt> in 3 secs!
/wait 1
/ja "Sneak Attack" <me>
/wait 1
/ws "Combo" <bt> | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-14-2004, 06:40 PM | #5 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Posts: 15 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 76 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 76 Donate | I assume that goes for any WS.
Such as, a THF with a sword.
/p Using [Fast Blade] on <bt> in 3 secs!
/wait 1
/ja "Sneak Attack" <me>
/wait 1
/ws "Fast Blade" <bt>
Am i correct?
And how, aprox, what would this damage equate to? Has anyone done this before (i am sure)?
I use sword as a THF, i am lvl 14 so i has not aquired the SA skill yet. However, when i do i want to be able to know i am getting the most out of it. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-15-2004, 01:45 AM | #6 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 144 Style: Dark - Version 5 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 108 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 108 Donate | any WS that is a physical attack will stack with it, and it will add considerable damage over your normal weapon skill.
for example, at level 15, you can probably do about 30 damage with your fast blade? I don't remember what the damage was at that level, but let's just pretend it's 30. Now you use sneak attack, then fastblade immediately, and get 80 damage.(also just an estimate)
But it does add quite a bit, and the amount it adds goes up as you level / get more +dex gear.
hope that helps. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-16-2004, 06:11 AM | #9 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 196 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 141 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 141 Donate | <bt> indicates what the group is fighting. Although in some instances I've seen it target someone's dragoon.
The only time i use <bt> is in my target macro:
/target <bt>
All other macros use <t> | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
