What ya think? No rest and very helpfull instead of sitting down. Personally, I think /brd is better than whm and rdm for farming purposes rather than anything else. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-28-2004, 12:08 PM | #3 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Posts: 41 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 164 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 164 Donate | Currently working on /WHM myself. Here's my logic for it, as far as farming goes.
*At 50/25, you get WHM's innate regen. Sure, it's just 1 hp per 3 ticks or so, but it's always on - and as far as I know, it stacks with the buff version of WHM regen.
*At 30/15, you get divine seal. So every 10 minutes, you can cast one spell and give yourself a doubly-effective heal.
*At 55, maxed dagger skill gives you access to an EX mana-steal WS called Energy Drain. At 100% TP, I can steal just under 60 mana from cast-capable mobs using this.
Between innate regen, Divine seal, and Energy Drain, I (hopefully) can pretty much run around farming without every having to rest. There are other great buffs too - at 56/28, you have access to stoneskin, elemental-bar spells, shell, protect, blink, and eventually, erase - erase being damn nice for those times when a debuff actually lands while farming. The debuffs (Dia, paralyze, silence, slow) aren't so bad either.
/RDM is damn nice too - you get most of what you would as a WHM anyway, plus you get access to more debuffs (sleep, bio, bind, gravity, dispel) in addition to some en-weapon spells, and eventually, phalanx. A lot of the spells are going to be useless when farming - there's no reason I can think of to ever nuke as a THF/RDM unless (possibly) you run into an elemental, spikes spells seem wasted on the best evader in the game, and en-weapon spells supposedly don't last very long. Between all the enhancements and debuffs, I'm willing to bet an RDM would be able to farm tougher mobs with greater ease, while a WHM would be able to manage farming lesser mobs with less, if any breaks. Either way, you give up divine seal and innate regen for a more diverse set of enhancements and debuffs. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-28-2004, 01:03 PM | #4 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 330 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 665 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 665 Donate | ..Bard? What the hell are you smoking? Shoo!
For general purpose farming, Whm is best. It has sneak/deoderzie/invis, which are required for and 'good' farming sub. The auto-HP regen is outstanding for farming easy stuff, and divine seal is amazingly handy for farming harder stuff. Not to mention raise/reraise, just in case ^^. Energy steal doesn't really steal a lot of mp, but it'll do to help minimize effort, though I'd rather use the TP for damage and sit for 30 seconds every 10-15min. Also, when you finally get to the 72+ range, you get a few of the teleports! Woo. And of course, all the good *na spells, as well as erase. The other nice thing about whm sub is sometimes you'll be in situations where your PT might actually want it.
Rdm is also good, but a little more specialized. You still have the cures and sneak/invis, but you loose a lot of the whm goodies. You don't get raise or the good -na spells, and sub whm will seem a lot more appealing unless you're farming slimes/elementals where the en- spells actually are quite useful. After 50 it's a bit different though. The Fast cast ability comes in pretty handy for sneak/invis during coffer hunts, I've had to warp out or die a few times with whm sub where rdm sub would have been okay. However, at 66-68 it changes up. Having Stoneskin, Blink, and Phlanx with fastcast will actually let you kill some pretty difficult mobs.. until your mp runs out. Oh yeah.. rdm sub mana pool.. smaller than whm. You'll want to get a bunch of mp gear, hehe. Dispel is okay, but you won't really be farming anything where it will make a difference.
Anyhow, that's pretty much how I see it until they change the level cap again. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-28-2004, 08:27 PM | #6 (permalink) | | Senior Veteran Oracle of Knowledge Join Date: Jan 2003 Posts: 2,984 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 22 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post Gil: 1,764 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,764 Donate | | Quote: | Originally posted by Anya ..Bard? I was just saying what was best if you dont want to rest at all while farming. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-28-2004, 11:45 PM | #7 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Posts: 148 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 486 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 486 Donate | | Quote: | | Use /brd if you have PainII, heal 3 HP per few seconds. Anyone see to big of an issue subbing a red mage to my theif till I hit 30 and can get ranger or dragoon ok thinking beast tamer as a posibility too. I like the idea of a red mage for farming and it should sub to the beast tamer well. I am just wondering if it will over gimp my thief for parties sub 30. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-12-2004, 03:02 PM | #11 (permalink) | | Senior Veteran Oracle of Knowledge Join Date: Jan 2003 Posts: 2,984 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 22 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post Gil: 1,764 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,764 Donate | | Quote: | Originally posted by ForestWanderer Ok a have a simple question for the people who seem to have a good idea. But also for fun maybe do bst/rdm. Just did not want to have have to level a sub on the way to 30 I probable would never use agian. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-13-2004, 10:08 AM | #13 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 196 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 140 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 140 Donate | I like BLM. But I farm really low level stuff, like in Tahrongi Canyon or Lathiene. Just create a train and either use a AE WS or a -ga spell.
One of the main reasons is Warp. I want to be able get a port out there and Warp back.
Perhaps when I reach 50 I'll level my WHM from 20 to 25 and go hunting in places where the stealth is required. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode | Posting Rules | You may not post new threads You may not post replies You may not post attachments You may not edit your posts HTML code is Off | | | All times are GMT -8.
