What exactly does this do? Sometimes when you land a hit, you get the Flee effect? That doesn't make much sense. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-18-2004, 12:40 AM | #2 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2002 Posts: 330 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 665 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 665 Donate | There are two uses.
The first and most accepted use is to offhand Chicken while fighting. Sometimes you'll have flee up when it's time to fish for the next mob. Handy, but only sometimes.
The other use is it's fun when farming. Whee. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-18-2004, 05:56 AM | #3 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Posts: 334 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 114 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 114 Donate | So... does it make Flee last longer?
I might just buy one even though I can't equip it yet. It's about 10K right now on my server. I have a feeling the price will go up when I'm lv58. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-19-2004, 12:21 AM | #7 (permalink) | | Struck Out (Banned) Join Date: Oct 2003 Posts: 738 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 711 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 711 Donate | Just wondering ... does the flee effect work for non-thf's?
And rather than make a new topic ... does the triple dagger's +1% triple attack work for non-thf's, too?
Not that I seriously want either weapon, but I figure if I ever get some extra cash they'd be nice gimmick items to have | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-19-2004, 05:24 AM | #8 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2004 Posts: 90 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 703 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 703 Donate | I remember offhand that chicken knife is THF only, so no one else can use it. I think the triple dagger is not limited like this but no clue if it works for other jobs. 2 days ago me a 34/17 thf/rng and some 70+ rng/thf or thf/rng using the the chicken knife(had anon but used flee and had some kind of green AF, also used sneak attack) were hunting for tremor rams and him I suppose also rampaging. Anyway I picked a good station to check wide scan from, a good nice central location, and I then refreshed wide scan "Every 1-2 seconds" no joke either, 1-2.
I turned on flee and went right to the ram as fast as I possiblely could, yet this jp beat me too it everytime and I was doing everything in my power to get there faster too. Yet he beat me to it 5/5 times and it did look like he was going faster than my flee, it was nuts.
However I was happier later on when I killed stray mary and got the horn and sold for 150k at jeuno . And now I'm pretty wealthy by 34 standards(34 as my main). | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-19-2004, 02:12 PM | #11 (permalink) | | Member Join Date: Aug 2003 Posts: 714 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 1,679 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 1,679 Donate | did you check his equipment? He might have had strider boots or dusk equipment
strider boots = 12% extra movement speed, and this does affect you even while in flee mode 75/bst, 60/smn, 51/rdm, 46/whm, 40/blm, 37/nin, 37/thf, 37/war, 32/sam, 25/brd, 10/pld, 7/mnk | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-20-2004, 10:03 AM | #13 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Nov 2003 Posts: 211 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 249 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 249 Donate | Nope, no strider boots. And I'm not saying I don't believe you, honestly, but could you go into some reasoning why it doesn't make flee faster? first hand experience, word from jp? Just wondering
Off topic but I'd like to know also, does strider boots enhance flee? | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-20-2004, 08:44 PM | #14 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 203 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 2,886 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 2,886 Donate | I believe any items that "enhance Flee" do so in terms of making it last longer, NOT making you flee faster.
I also do not believe that Strider Boots + Flee make you go faster than Flee alone. I forgot when, but I think it was in a patch note couple months ago that they capped running speed to be max - as fast as chocobo speed. Meaning nothing in the world will make you go faster than chocobo speed. And since Flee is at chocobo speed, no items will make it go faster.
Also, since you can't do this currently in the game, it's only theoretical - I think the design is even if you have every single piece of your armor having the attribute +10% speed, you will still NEVER go faster than a chocobo. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 03-20-2004, 11:09 PM | #15 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Jan 2003 Location: Tennessee Posts: 109 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 220 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 220 Donate | Actually, the official Japanese guide says that a THF will flee will outpace a chocobo. They actually had how fast a THF moves compared to how fast a chocobo moves in relation to the size of the world (think of it as MPH in the real world). They might have changed that in a patch given that this guide is from when the game was first released. It was actually a trivia question along with the duration of Sneak based on character enhancing level vs. sneak oils.
