Yesterday after gawd knows how many attempts I was able to finally get the Whisper from Shiva after enlisting some high level LS help. I was also able to get Garuda and Titan done and got my summons from them without any problems at all. However Shiva was a different story.

I spoke to the Elemental Fork Taru to turn in my whisper for a reward. I scrolled down to the bottom and clicked "Pact with avatar". The chat box scrambled for a moment and the game then proceeded to go through with a completely different cut scene and at the end it gave me 10k gil instead of my Shiva summon.

Honestly I don't know what happened. I called a GM to report it as a glitch and even he didn't know what happened and couldn't really do anything to help. Thankfully my LS offered to help out with the Shiva Prime fight later this week but it's still pretty annoying that I'm having to go all the way back up to Fei Yin to fight Shiva and deal with her and her Sleepga spamming ways.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with the primes? I got Garuda and Titan with no problem and can summon them perfectly fine but the Taru for the Shiva quest ripped me off! It wouldn't have been as bad if it randomly gave me one of the other items but 10k gil for losing well over 5k exp doing Shiva runs over the weekend is a slap in the face really.

I'd email tech support and alert them to the issue. You do that through POL. But don't expect an answer from them or even a fix. It will probably take several emails from others before they actually get off their duffs and do something. Just curious, what system do you play ffxi on?

Did you try again and get 10k again? Hell if that worked I'd rack up a few million before I called the GM.

I was a little annoyed (although I did use a much more colourful description of my mood and what I thought of that stupid quest Taru when telling my LS) when it happened and honestly wanted to do something else so I just went and did some WoTG missions with my LS instead (Young Excenmille and Young Rahal are awesome NPCs).

And to be honest I can make about 10k in 1 minute by spamming Bug Broth to NPCs and I don't have to go all the way up to Fei Yin and back to do that :p

Edit: I usually play FFXI on my PC when I'm at home but when I'm at college I have to use my crappy Vista laptop. It's Summer Break so i was at home on my PC. I was going to get the 360 version but actually getting my 360 to run for longer than an hour without blowing up all over the place is another challenge.

Ya, I was just wondering because I thought it might be specific to a system. I always keep a little notebook of bits and pieces I hear on the various forums, so thanks for the info.

You know whats pathetic? I'd run back and forth for the 10k!

And I've been seriously tempted to sell the Angelstone I got from Wrath of the Griffon until i found out the prices of the other items used in the Gobbiebag quest. Even though I'm ages away from the last Gobbiebag quest it would probably be in my best interest to keep the stone.

Then again the gil was a blessing in disguise i suppose. I'm skilling up cooking on Mithkabobs and thanks to the onion prices on Kujata and undercutters it's just not work AHing them. I usually just let my LS have them for cheap and/or in exchange for any Cockatrice meat they farm up.

I was on the 360 and did all the Summons, and i got them fine, i play on the 360 from around 12:00-01:00 (gmt digital) and i dont have a problem yet.

Its werid though a friend had a similar problem his happened on Leviathen, he was also on the PC.

I got Titan, Garuda and later did Shiva again with no issues. A RDM/NIN can solo the avatars pretty easily and I had a RDM/NIN friend offer to help me do Shiva again.

I did Leviathan with my LS this morning and we destroyed it and set the new record on Kujata to boot. Also had no problems with redeeming the Whisper. Navigating that temple though was a total different matter entirely. Thankfully a coffer popped so our SMN was able to get a map on the way. The route through the Den of Rancor is easy. Run West for a bit, drop, run west for a bit, zone. Still managed to aggro just about everything on the way though. Sneak and invis both wore at the exact same time X_X

I see why dont you just teleport there? Using the mini fork if your smn is high?

My SMN is only lv20 so I would have literally sat there in the corner doing nothing. That and exploration is the most fun part of finding the cloisters. I mean what's the point in taking the short way when you and your LS has a lot more fun taking the long way?

Party was RDM, SMN, BLM, BRD, WHMx2 (I was one of the WHM's) and it was only ever the BLM who fell below 50% health because he got hit by the 2 hour. Poor Levvy didn't stand a chance.
