It appears to be a straightforward HTML site with embedded Google Ads which (of course) point directly at Gilseller sites conveniently at the top of the screen. The javascript is simple and basically boilerplate for the Google Ad bar. There is an embedded script at the bottom of the page which appears to be a page counter--It appears to be rather innocuous. If these ads are similar to ones on other sites, you may be able to get a virus or trojan from them--avoid the ad bar and say no to any popups. Get Firefox or turn off ActiveX.
Disclaimer: Of course, use it at your own risk. Just because I didn't see anything on first glance doesn't mean there isn't anything.
As for the content, so far everything looks ok... Although I did see where you posted rumor as fact (synthesis facing direction). For some reason it feels like the defunct website summoner.info (.org?) I can't remember which it was, but I can't find a history on The Wayback Machine for either. The fact that it is new and has a broken link to Aden's Renkei chart leaves me slightly suspicious, but it may just be me... Of course, it's a useful site especially since the old summoner guide site is dead. It's not like there aren't alternatives though. Wiki's information is adequate in general and the guide here on ffxionline if you're afraid to go into the less well-trod parts of the web.
Be careful of the page-hops--a text-only ad bar has been placed in close proximity to illicit unintended clicks which (if they're like the popup that wants you to download a trojan) could cause problems though unlikely if you're careful.
The site is result #4 on Google (level one non-premium site links) for the search "summoner ffxi" (without the quotes). A great deal of gilseller resources have been focused on the stealing of accounts via nasty little ads and code injections in web sites. It is appropriate to be cautious.
Gilsellers love to post links in forum sites. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 12-27-2007, 04:18 AM | #6 (permalink) | | Yay im a taru again! New threads should be self-contained and useful on their own; this is a forum, not a blog or chat room, and threads last longer than a week. You've no way of knowing how anyone will find posts you've made, or whether they'll have seen anything else you've written. Ellipses on Fenrir There is no rush. If you're not willing to take your time, don't be surprised when no one wants to give you much of theirs.
