Hey, does anyone have the link to a thread that shows a few screenshots of what is supposed to be square's upcoming patch release for higher res graphics/resolution in game?

As far as I know there isn't anything planned. There was a tech demo at E3 showing what future games could look like that was based around FFXI, but that's all it was, a tech demo.

I read that PC users were getting an optional patch to update the visuals of the game once it's released for Xbox360. Updated visuals would be nice, but the game is still going to run like crap due to the flawed game engine.

First off the Xbox360 version looks exactly like the PC version. Second the graphics engine blows. And the lack of regard for intersecting geometry makes me think they do not plan on doing a thing. The entire game is modeled like crap. Over use of polygons on environments and lack of use on NPC, and Players. Textures also suck the big one. I mean come on they could atleast update that and the DirectX version. Oh well hoping for to much from SE. They dont seem to care much for how we'd like to see the game. After all it is their vision.

That's why there's such a big modding community. And, most likely, why SE doesn't crack down on people for modding armor and such. They've already layed out a pretty decent foundation, and everyday people are making strides towards making the game look better. I agree, PC and NPC models suck. You as an individual have the power to change that, though. Just takes some patience, rather than a patch.

Actually, I think you are wrong. FFXI is by far one of the best mmo's out there with an actual decent graphic engine. I easily fixed the resolution through a guide on the forum and also with AA, it is by far the smoothest picture I have ever seen in any game. Some PC's may not be able to handle it, but that is their problem. You want a better picture or graphic engine, you need a better system. The graphics/textures may suck, but that is because they had to limit it due to the gaming communities PC standards.

I really don't think so. My gf and I bought her brother-in-law the 360 version, since that is what he has. I've obviously seen it first hand. I even played MY character on it, and I don't see it looking anything close to the PC version.
