OK, so this guy tells me that Helix spells have a elemental debuff effect. His claim is that if you use a helix spell and then nuke the match element, that spell will do more damage.
I see nothing to support this claim and I've tried it out in various situations on my Scholar, such as campaigns and missions (since you never DoT in manaburn anyway). I've done the matching Helix spell on the matching day with the matching nuke and the nukes seem exactly the same to me.
I tossed a few Thunder IVs at Ghesso and with or without Ionohelix, they didn't seem any different.
Has anyone else heard this rumor? I think its bunk since Helix isn't considered enfeebling, but elemental magic. Plus this guy has been wrong about plenty of other things anyway (like march not having a haste effect), so I didn't put much stock into this claim. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-23-2008, 04:22 AM | #2 (permalink) | | Junior Member Administrator Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 4,929 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 235 Thanked 682x in 347 Posts Gil: 21,530 Bank: 77,920 Total Gil: 99,450 Donate | Re: Since I find this Helix information suspect... I would bet he was confusing the effect of storm spells with helixes. Giving sch one damage bonus from storm, another from Ebullience and another from matching with helix seems like a bit much. I'd never heard of that before. - | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-23-2008, 05:15 AM | #3 (permalink) | | Veteran Member Keeper of Knowledge Join Date: Dec 2004 Posts: 2,007 Style: Light - Version 4 Thanks: 101 Thanked 240x in 167 Posts Gil: 13,844 Bank: 124,498 Total Gil: 138,342 Donate | Re: Since I find this Helix information suspect... The only thing the Helix spells seem to do are the INSANE DoT compared to their MP <> Casting ratio.
I think Kaeko did testing and figured out that their almost as damaging as BLM Nukes when comparitively equipped. I know Kaeko has gaiters, so I'm not sure you'll even have the time to use it. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-23-2008, 11:28 AM | #10 (permalink) | The BBQ Kitten Revolution FFXIWiki Team Join Date: May 2006 Location: Windurst Posts: 4,574 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 158 Thanked 1,265x in 705 Posts Gil: 36,247 Bank: 11 Total Gil: 36,258 Donate | Re: Since I find this Helix information suspect... Celerity isn't worth using on Storm Spells, in the time you took to use Celerity and a Storm Spell, you could have just cast the spell anyway and it would be back up in 12 seconds. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 06-23-2008, 12:18 PM | #13 (permalink) | | Achiever Keeper of Knowledge Join Date: Apr 2003 Location: Queens, NY Posts: 2,626 Style: Light - Version 4 My Mood: Thanks: 442 Thanked 238x in 139 Posts Gil: 1,675 Bank: 87,765 Total Gil: 89,440 Donate | Re: Since I find this Helix information suspect... I'd say that sounds about right based on how much I spam the stuff to activate my desert boots or use it to boost nukes. Originally Posted by Malacite | | *gives cpt.
