EDIT : oh and no, double attack from /WAR doesn't make a huge difference on your WS average.

* * * Was in Lv.26 Level Sync party earlier as SAM/DRG, targeting mandies and goblins. Accounted for ~50% of the party's direct damage output in a fron tline with NIN, SAM/DRG (me), THF/WAR (replaced by SAM/WAR later), DNC. Also accounted for ~50% of the damage taken by the party. Jump was 9% of my direct damage output, and contributed significantly to TP gain. Yet, I'd gladly give it up for Utsusemi if we had less healing power (WHM, RDM, DNC). If given the same people (including the weak NIN) on the same jobs, I'd take /NIN over /WAR at Lv.30, no matter how enticing Berserk looks. (If I can afford the latent gears, though, I'd rather be on /DRG anyway.)

But 50% damage output and 50% damage taken for the entire party.... geez That is very different what it was in 3 or 4 years ago (I remember my SAM at level 26 whiff most of time during that era )

I think only four people used food in that party: SAM/DRG (me), DNC, WHM, RDM. Maybe the others mistook mandies for colibris? (Guess which four out of seven people were from the same LS?) Oh, when the THF was replaced, the SAM/WAR which came barely outdamaged the DNC. Yeah, the DNC who never uses WS did nearly caught up to the SAM/WAR. Didn't check anyone's gears, but the Far East outfit NIN/WAR with dual swords but using Burning Blade instead of Fast Blade was kinda amusing. Anyway, my average melee hit was 48.18 dmg/hit, while the SAM/WAR's was 29.35 dmg/hit. I doubt the Attack Bonus from /DRG accounted for the entire difference. He probably had some lousy gear and underleveled katana skill or something.

Say your damage ratio from WS/TP is 50/50. Then: Old WS: D*fTP100*pDIF = 1.5625*D*pDIF /WAR WS: D*fTP100*pDIF*90% + D*(fTP100+1.00)*10% = D*1.5625*.9pDIF + D*2.5625*.1pDIF = 1.40625*D*pDIF + .25625*D*pDIF = 1.6625pDIF 1.6625*D*pDIF/1.5625 = 6.4% damage boost on WS. Considering the 50/50 scenario, you'll end up with 3.2% overall damage boost. /WAR has always its drawback that you can't control: If you are good DD already, you'll end up tanking. If the other DD is not good enough to pull hate from you, you will be an MP sponge for not being able to kill mob fast enough. There is also a limit where PLD can't take anymore hate from you in exp party.
