Sadly my account is inactive due to not having a job but how is the adjustments to damage? Yes I know how all of you SAMs are booing at this wanting your stagelight; but SAM was overpowered and it needed to be toned down. Is the damage noticeably different and is the formula for 2-hand still 1STR = 1 ATK and 1DEX = 1 ACC? | Originally Posted by FFXI's view on other MMORPGs | | 'Start learning boy, no you don't get a tutorial, this is man's country! It's toned down sam, and hopefully stopped some of the bandwagoners. Some are proclaiming the end of the world, but that is nothing new really! If you were a great SAM before the 2H update in August, you're still a great SAM now. If you were a SAM that took an update to become great, you're in trouble.
In other words, its kinda like the RNG nerf back in 2005, but without your accuracy becoming totally crippled. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to Omgwtfbbqkitten For This Useful Post: | | | 11-20-2007, 06:15 AM | #6 (permalink) | | Brain of Knowledge Join Date: Jun 2007 Location: Chicago Suburbs Posts: 1,714 Style: Light - Version 6 My Mood: Thanks: 169 Thanked 421x in 256 Posts Gil: 20,133 Bank: 67,239 Total Gil: 87,372 Donate | Re: How is the adjustments? I'm guessing they took some of the STR mods for WS down a notch as well as the general 2-hand STR/ATK ratio being scaled back, but it's noticeable for sure. A reasonably good SAM in my ls was doing 400~ WS to Mother Globe last night, pre-update he was doing 700~, but he also doesn't use a Hagun. From what I've seen/heard so far, if you use a Hagun you're in good shape still, if not it's probably time to put the Ushi or Oni away and pick one up.

4. wanted to test based on a AVERAGE samurai action in a party. THIS MEANS NO FULL TIME BERSERK(cant anyway)/HASSO JUST FOR EPEEN SS. I told him to seigan/third eye up and use hasso when third eye timers down for WS if he can. Also used normal(not full attacking) meripo songs: March + Minuet.

My numbers were similar to that, just far fewer 1k+ Gekkos. That didn't show Kasha at all, but Kasha seems to have gotten the biggest adjustment. It's damage is pathetic now. 888 Kasha was my high last night, and usually it starts at about 1k and goes up to 1300.
One that's getting me about everybody saying "only gimp SAMs suck" are these people posting 1200 Gekkos against Great Colibri with a BRD. Glad to see somebody actually posting a mob with some actual HP and DEF. [font="Comic Sans MS"]Odude

It's the people who already have 2-4 level 75 jobs, and power level every new job to 75 within a month that are the true bandwagoners. Seriously. Think of everyone you know who's WAR75. Now think about what their first job was. It's almost never the same. And the few that took WAR to 75 first have now hopped onto the NIN bandwagon.
But where am I going with this? They have access to great gear and great merits. So they don't have a clue how to work as a trick buddy on their SAM, and they probably think /thf is the best SJ for every situation, but they have the gear to look like pros on the parsers.
My fear is that the people who're working on their first jobs ever would be the ones to suffer. The people that still have that un-jaded feeling that X job is "their" job. They shouldn't end up being "half the Samurai" of someone who's fully loaded with ridiculous r/e gear.
This argument could already be applied to many other aspects of the game before this though, so carry on. Originally Posted by Taskmage | Women = Time x Money
