TA + overwhelm
sorry if SE said this and i missed it, but does trick attack stack with overwhelm? I find myself using TA + WS a lot so i dont pull massive hate with SA + WS(when there is nothing to SATA on) those 2 stacking would be very nice ^^

Re: TA + overwhelm
I don't see why they wouldn't. Trick Attack only depends on whether there's another party member in front of you for hate transferral. Overwhelm requires that you be in front of the enemy. Should be no conflict between them.

Re: TA + overwhelm
If TA and Overwhelm do stack(it does make sense) wouldnt SAM/THF be a viable choice in meripo? Sure, you can do other WS's in the time it takes for TA to become available again, but TA+ overwhelm seems like a very good combo, a very powerful WS to help the tank keep hate(hopefully done on a nin or pld)

opinions?

Re: TA + overwhelm
If we're talking about merit parties, most of them are burn parties where hate bounces like a rubber ball, so Trick Attack isn't really of much use.

For that matter, it's hard to use Overwhelm in merit parties for the same reason - it's very possible for the monster to have turned by the time you've lined up and activated your weaponskill.

Re: TA + overwhelm
my thinking was more that Overwhelm would be better for sam/war or sam/anything, really, for fast chaining merit parties. Basically, if you're gonna be sam/thf, you won't care about TA and you'll use SA for your WSs. For those that don't use /thf as much, Overwhelm performs an equal and opposite function.

For NMs (Wyrms), sam/thf TA Overwhelm seems quite nice. The closest TA bitch to a true THF in damage, anyway.

No. It's BLU. Even higher than THF sometimes. But they use MP.

Merit PT -> /WAR for fast kill and stronger attack.

Re: TA + overwhelm
i like /WAR in high lvl parties, im halfway to 75 atm, what about /NIN? im not too fond of subbing it cause it doesn do much at all for offense(unless you count moreso going all out)

Will parties want me to sub NIN a lot?

Why sub NIN when you have Seigan available? Utsusemi is better than Third Eye in most cases defensively, but /NIN gives you nothing offensively. I just don't see a lot of situations where a samurai would need round-the-clock defense except maybe when solo (in which case no one will care if you're /NIN or /WHM or /BST or anything else you care to use).

Re: TA + overwhelm
Unless you're uber SAM who can pull hate every now and then, go /WAR. However some very good SAMs are forced to /NIN because their damage are insane.
