SAM Dmg over DRG Dmg

I have question on SAM dps. I was wondering where is the sam dmg compared drg dmg? Will SAM always DRG? And does SAM have any solo ablilies? I want to play a class that can do nice dmg and also if possible to solo for a little here and there.

Any information would be great!

I'm neither a drg nor a sam, but I can tell you the only melee classes that are really known for soloing are bst, drg and nin. Samurai has neither a solid method of avoiding damage like bst and nin do, nor the ability to heal themselves efficiently like a drg with a mage subjob can, so they don't solo very well.

And THF as well, for solo. DRG will be able to solo some at end game, not so much on the way there. SAM, Taskmage is right, won't be soloing much of anything unless they sub NIN and fight EP only really :/

Their damage compared is fairly similiar in most exp situations now, with the use of DRG's pet dragon. I won't go into damage later on cause I may be somewhat bias on this topic lol.

Yeah sam is terrible at soloing anything, sometimes even easy prey depending on what mob. Unless you buy a whole lot of potions and have your NPC set to healer >.>

I haven't seen SAM and DRG fight in the same party, but I do know that DRG melee is pretty impressive, especially considering what DRG's gear selection is. Now if only their WS were as good as SAM...

It's true, SAM's solo game is lacking even with a Ninja sub.

SAM is a great job, but highly party oriented. You can put up some nice numbers, but it can be pain trying to get to the 'fun' weapon skills like Yuki, Gekko, and Kasha.

DRG is a great job, people just often over look the added DPS a wyvern can add. I can't speak much for DRG at end game, but if you're looking for a job good at doing damage and soloing then DRG might be the way to go.

Pick whichever jobs appeals to you more, I'm biased towards SAM because I love the pretty weapon skills, the great katana look, and the whole Samurai 'feel'.

level 1-10. After that its PT time. I never had much trouble getting parties myself... but it just depends n' such.

I left out rdm because the OP said he wanted to play a damage dealing job. I'm a rdm and I love soloing. Killing T crabs in Kuftal for skillups is my favorite thing to do when I'm bored right now. ^^

Eeehhh, yeah, I guess Red Mage solo is more "OH GOD GRAVITY BIO RUUUN!"

But who am I to make fun of that? I'm a frickin' Beastmaster.

Nah, I melee solo most of the time, but that doesn't make me "a class that can do nice dmg." It takes nearly ten minutes for me to kill a crab three levels higher than me.

That's okay! It might take me a lot less time on Ninja, but I bet I die easier!
