Looking at Subjobs and Equipment
I've been a long time lurker, now just getting going on SAM and am looking for some opinions and advice.

I leveled my WAR to 30 in order to get SAM, and i also leveled MNK to sub to my WAR. Now that i've started SAM, I've been subbing MNK and find it quite nice. I'm not really looking to tank or backup tank if i can avoid it, but WAR may be the better Sub in the long run...What do you think?

Also, i'm torn whether to stick with MNK/SAM/NIN only gear or to bite th bullet and use regular armor. I'm trying to stay true to "samurai" but the MNK/SAM/NIN armor is pretty few and far between. Is it viable to do this? Or am i better off just going for regular armor or mixing and matching?

Well there aren't many options to Sam subs before lvl 30. War is pretty much the only useful one. ONce you hit 30 though hf makes a pretty good sub.

i think it could depend on the copetency of your group and what skillchain your doing, if its one the sam ends, sub thf for sneak+ws, otherwise sub war, for general utility. altho, finding decent groups who know a skillchain from a trained gobbo in kazham is like pulling teeth... thru your nose

When im lucky to get in a pt ( lvl 34-40) the main reason I got invited was becuase of my war sub-back up voke-zerk, and even a few times main tank, I know sams are not ment to be tanks (I compared dmg, pld was taking 40 a hit when I was taking around 80-90) But my sub is what got me into pt's, as I seen sam/thf and sam/mnk LFG at the same time as me.

Hmmm, good thoughts.

I may just try to stretch out MNK as much as i can and then switch to my WAR.

But what do you think about the MNK armor vs. WAR armor. I'd like to stick to my principles as a Samurai and use the MNK armor....but as has been shown in this thread, i don't want to be looked down upon because i use MNK gear. What do you think about this?
