few SAM questions...
ok first I wanna know what kind of ideal armors (not all +1 shit for the sakes of reality, no Cursed stuff either) you'd personally think would be good for a SAM. Personally at lvl 50 I've been thinking this armor set up

Beatle Earrings
Spike Coller +1
Sniper's Rings
Life Belt
Ochido's Kote
Jistu gi body/pants
um...some boots and helm...lol >.>

now, at lvl 60+...what about your AF? I know the gloves rock, but what about other pieces? I know Haubergeon is the ideal body armor also...but what about boots/helm/pants? Anything in the late game that's superior? Too bad SAM can't use Thick set or this'd be easy (^^)b

Sniper Rings you will need almost guarantee it. I'm saving up for a pair of my own 270k right now on Alexander. I bought Jujitsu Gi from a friend for 90k, 120k right now on Alexander and Ochiudo's Kote i bought as well for 500k...it went up 60k when i checked 3 weeks ago, you will hear mixed opinions about the Kote, i personally think there fun to have, some will say its not worth it for the stat price but...I like'em

You will need a life belt, and as it being one of the cheaper items to attain no reason you shouldnt have one, plus the accuracy helps greatly. Spike collar I have as well, very good to have cheap also. I have a Nomad's Mantle for the evasion and agility boost but I dont think its necessary. I can't say beetle earrings are the greatest things to have, I use Winged earrings(i think thats what there called) for the agility boost instead of the beetle.

Assuming you have all the Samurai AF once you get to level 60, the next best thing to do would be to get the hauber but then again....would you want to spend the 1.5mill gil for it?(1.5mill on Alexander might be different on your server) I'm told by many samurai friends that Ochiudo's Kote is good till Relic AF Samurai Gloves, so Ochiudo's you'll be using for awhile, atleast IMO, Jujitsu Gi is good till level 55, Life belt is good till forever, same with sniper rings. As far as pants and helmet I dunno, I'd just use AF when you can use it.

you did check my job and lvl right? I got 2 Sniper's Rings and Life belt, and I'm going to have both a Hauberk and Haubergeon one day. I'm wonding for OTHER SAM armors, mainly for your pants/boots/helm...I looked at the Tiger Leathers, they look nice and have decent +attack, they any good?

For helm, at Lv. 60, I would suggest switching from Valk mask and AF helm(use AF helm while meditating.) And for pants, the RK pants or your AF pants are good....for boots either fuma kyahan or Federation kyahan, whatever you want...

Head - Myochin Kabuto is only really useful as a macro change item. I suggest switching this out with a Valk Mask. Something along the lines of:

/equip head "Myochin Kabuto"
/wait 1
/ja 'meditate" <me>
/wait 1
/equip head "Valkyrie's Mask"

Body - Samurai can't use Hauberk, thus leaving us with Haubergeon/Haubergeon +1 as our best body peice. A cheaper alternative is the Assault Jerkin. I picked this up during my exp parties in Onzozo from Ose and decided to use it while solo/farming due to the fact that the -evasion on the haub REALLY hurts for those type of situations.

Hands - I look at this equip slot a bit different depending on what race your character is. For Elvaan, I would use the Myochin Kote for the +4 DEX and the +DEX bonus when using Tonosama Rice Balls. For Hume, seeing how we have a bit better DEX, but lower STR, the Ochiudo's Kote seem a bit more balancing.

Legs - This can go a few ways actually. I would say the Royal Knight's Breeches at lv 55 pretty much own anything else we can wear at this Lv. Although, I stayed with my Myochin Haidate for the +3 to STR only because again, Hume has low STR and I decided that +1 was more important than the dex and attack bonus on the breeches.

Feet - The Federation Kyahan are a nice choice up until the 60s where you can swap them out for Tiger/Feral Ledelsens.

At one time I believed that gearing your Samurai with attack gear was a stupid idea. But, once I got my Haubergeon and started adding other +attack/STR items out of curiosity, I realized that Samurai is alot more powerful than many are led to believe. Granted, Samurai are not DRK or RNG in terms of DMG, but they CAN easily out DMG these and many other poorly equipped melee jobs.

Personally, I find it to be a real joke that we need to bust our asses in eq in order to reach the lv of other melee players, and in often cases, surpass them

hm, thanks guys. I think I'll look up info on more stuff on this...but really there's no late game pants that are good? it's RK or AF for life for them?

The dusk set has some pretty nice stats, but I heard you can only wear like 1 or 2 pieces until it's like having a constant weight effect on your character. That and the fact that each piece is crafted from Behemoth Leather which marks them up there in the rediculous price range for such small stat inscreases.

I've considered that you could unequip them, but I still won't plunk down 1million+ gil for a few extra points of attack. I'll probably just stick with the Rasetsu sune-ate.

I've got a question about those sniper rings... isn't the -def a bit of concern? Especially for a pair of them?

I'm just asking because I've heard that Samurai can act as a backup tank if needed... and the -def would seem to hamper that ability.
