A few points in addition to the excellent (and correct) information that has been mentioned above:
Invis: I cannot stress this enough. You need a way to cast/recast invis on yourself a LOT. I would suggest one of 3 subs... whm, rdm or ninja. Whm is the best, followed by rdm. Ninja is pretty bad since the cast and recast time on Tonko:Ichi is long. I did it with Ninja, and it works. Just takes more Tph (trains per hour)
Checking coffers: It IS possible to check coffers in the tiny rooms without opening the door. I mean G-7 and G-9. You have to stand right next to the door, and spam TAB or whatever you use to switch targets, while moving about a little.
Uggalepih/Prelate key: Both vanish after one use. The first drops off Cutters, which can be killed right there in the coffer area. The second off Stabbers, which can be found if you take the first RIGHT after the wooden gate, near the keyed doors. With the aforementioned "through the door" method, you can check the FIRST room without a key. I have not found a way to check the Prelate key room, I'm afraid if that's the last spot left, tough luck.
To check the Uggalepih key room, stand to the right corner facing the door, turn into the corner, and move the camera around in 3rd person view. once you see a bit inside, you can TAB target stuff.
Temple Guardian: soloable at 73+ for several jobs, at least on Alexander it is frequently killed. Now the admittedly not honorable trick (that I refused to do, but seen done) is to wait until the thing does its meltdown move. Whoever fights it will run away, giving you a headstart if you stand nearby invis.
Last: if there are 75's running around obviously treasure hunting, you can go home. From 73 up, as it seems, things do not aggro anymore, and it takes a mere few minutes for someone of that level to check all coffer spawns that you could solo. It sounds harsh, but once again on Alexander, there's simply no point in doing this during japanese primetime.
Hint: the coffer seems to yield 4k gil. Try offering 5k :p it worked once for me, though we did not find the coffer that time. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-08-2004, 11:24 AM | #32 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2004 Posts: 37 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 17 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 17 Donate | i ran around for hours, burned all my prism powders... then i camped the safe room for a while, and i was getting ready to give up when i heard fighting outside so i ran out to see a JP party. they were calling help on every mob, afraid of Throat Cut i guess... so i went in swinging even though i was only 57 at the time haha...
they appreciated my bravery/stupidity and let me follow/fight with them as they attacked and killed the temple guardian, i explained that i was looking for AF coffer. behind temple guardian, one of them points Treasure Coffer and does /joy. i ask where!! and they kindly led me to it. i couldn't thank them enough, they could have just taken it for treasure. -M- | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-08-2004, 10:09 PM | #33 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2004 Posts: 4 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 28 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 28 Donate | This is so ANNOYING.......going into my second day of my AF body armor search.......down 2 stacks of prism powders.... and lucky you Marek, i died in the temple, within sight of some JP players fighting crawlers, and the WHM refused to raise. 2) Checked all rooms without a key, nothing, got a key and opened one unlocked door, nothing
3) Took out the Temple Guardian, finally got into his room, nothing
4) Only doors remaining to be checked had to have prelate keys to open them
5) Went outside on a ledge to take out the tonberries that drop those keys, fought for a long while, no keys
6) Noticed suddenly in a small room in battle that everyone stopped moving, looked in the upper right hand corner and watched my cable kill, assumed a server kick off
7) Kicked off, tried to get online for a few, then my bro informed me that the cable tv was out, waited a few more mins, then called the city (this is at 2:30am, so you see how insane this has made me), they say it's a prob on the NW side of town. Since it's just cable, they prob won't work on it at 2:30am
8) Cable still out at 8am, call the city again, and they say they have been working on it since 3am, a car ran over a cable box and wiped out the NW side of town
9) Cable online at 9am - prob is: 1) I am gonna log back on in the room with the tonberry 2) No clue where the zone is 3) no more prisms cuz i burnt them all last night 4) will eat another death and 5) may never get another party to agree to go back again cuz it was utter HELL last night
So tell me, IS IT WORTH IT!!!!!!?????
I swear i HATE this AF !!!!!! :mad:  Don't cry because it's over....smile because it happened | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-10-2004, 11:54 AM | #37 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2004 Posts: 37 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 17 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 17 Donate | some people dont even use it after they get it:confused:
not sure if prelate's key drops outside the temple, you probably have to get it inside -M- | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-11-2004, 08:47 AM | #38 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2004 Posts: 4 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 28 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 28 Donate | SUCCESS !!
Well, made it out of the temple alive, had 1 prism after all, last room i had a long train...made it to Yuhtunga, then Chayn told me he brought a friend, Ludwig, lvl 73 WHM, so went back. Checked all the easy access rooms, and of course, nothing. Chayn made it past the Temple Guardian i think with a skeleton key? May have to confirm that, BUT the treasure box was in a hallway to the right of the stairs directly in front as we entered the room. No need for a prelate key, which i was afraid of !! Anyway, it's over !!!! Thanks Chayn and Ludwig !! And of course, Luk, Chronox, Barook, Lisadee and Necrosoul ! And also Asche for your advice and constant support ! I mean, the body part. 2 items are better in their respective category, one much easier to get.
For raw damage, Master's Gi is hands down best. 4 Acc 1 Agi on the normal version, 36 Def is not that much worse.
For tanking, at 64 you can use Arhats Gi. Since samurai have crappy defense anyway, a 6 percent reduction is much much better than 3 points Def and 3 vitality.
Samurai AF body is for looks, and if you lack gil. It's NOT good armor. | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-12-2004, 01:38 PM | #40 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2004 Posts: 37 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 17 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 17 Donate | samurai are not supposed to tank unless the tank is dead :dead:
there's no armor that has acc stats besides master's gi until lv73... i spent quite a long time getting my AF so i'm proud to wear it -M- | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-12-2004, 05:57 PM | #41 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Dec 2003 Posts: 27 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 19 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 19 Donate | well, haub. not an option if you want to keep your sanity though ^^ | | ::Quote Selected:: | | 04-13-2004, 11:11 AM | #42 (permalink) | | Junior Member Join Date: Apr 2004 Posts: 4 Style: Light - Version 6 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0x in 0 Posts Gil: 28 Bank: 0 Total Gil: 28 Donate | Don't want to mislead anyone, Chayn did NOT get into the Temple Guardian room with a skeleton key. He told me he just got a whim and went to check it, the Guardian was gone, I suppose someone killed it....anyway, that's how we got in. As for the AF armor in battle? Hmmm, only equip it that I am aware if I am gonna tank for some odd reason in battle, or when i walk around Jeuno, otherwise, i'll keep the master's gi ! Just gave Jaucribaux the Charred Helm and Gold Thread, but the punk $%# b^&%# wants me to freakin' wait for his slow %$# again... ><
How long is the wait til I can get my hands on my hard fought Kabuto? Mystery Tour says Next Day (Earth Time), so does that mean I have to freakin' wait yet another 24 hours as I did during the AF2 quest?
If so, man does that blow. I should check some of the other classes AF's, because to my knowledge no one else has to wait as long for our %^$# than us. Damn it did we get gipped... Samurai: 74 --- San- Rank: 9
