| Junior Member | Samurai's Main Job/Purpose?
Ok, I'm a level 20 war, hoping to hit 30 in a week, maybe 2. I really wanted to be a Samurai but I'm hearing lots of mixed things about them. Are Samurai good damage dealers? can they take damage? Is there only purpose to 'start skillchains'? Would a Samurai have a tough time getting into a party? (SAM/WAR of course). After hearing a bunch of bad things about Samurai's I was thinking DRG/SAM but of course every other person in Vana'diel is a Dragoon so thats no good. Any help would be greatly apprechiated

I'm a 24/12 sam/war at the moment. Overall, I'm not impressed. All my abilities suck except for third eye. I can tank fine, and my damage output isn't anything special. I'm sure though at level 30 everything will change when I get meditate. |

Im 28/14 sam/war and am having a great time. My damage is slightly less than a DRK but I can take the hits a little bit better. Generally a sam's ideal spot (as far as Ive seen) is being backup tank, getting that provoke in and being able to beat up on the mob without getting hate... get hate pass it with 3rd eye. It is true however that Sams are ones to set SC's. They dont start them they configure them because once you get meditate, you can time it right to pull 2 chains or put yourself in twice.. (but I have no experience with that... maybe tonight ^^). Samurai is a bit of a different class, as Ive read elsewhere it is very much a love or hate style to play. Just play whats fun to you.. for me weilding a giant ass katana making the schwing sound when I strike and the ability to lead groups make sam fun for me, find in it whats best for you, not for the group or your friends |
