I can find it for my Vista easy with a general search inquiry but i can't seem t find any download links for xp. My cd is back at home and im not going to be visiting for a few weeks at least to go pick them up.

Anyone know of any download sites? I'd copy it over from my lap top, but thats the vista. Which runs the game oddly (players and nps are blobs of shifting light /boggle) and with the laptop having no num pad I can't get to get into the main menus in the game). My desktop is XP.

Your best bet is a torrent. Will include the original play online viewer thats included with the original game.

Also feel free to look for a torrent with unrar'd ISOs so you can just download the CD1 for the playonline client without the rest of the cds if thats what you need.

This is completely legal so don't worry about downloading it by torrent. You own the game and need a unique key which you own to play it regardless.

yes you can. It amazes me how many people don't pay attention to their laptops. Unless your laptop is olde (it isn't; it has vista), you have a numpad that's activated when you push a "func" key. Find it, then look closely at the keyboard.

Well, see, I was kinda playing in the dark after spending 5 hrs installing from scratch, and by the time the download finished it was 2AM But I just couldn`t wait !

BTW: only had laptop a few days, so be kind lol

You should have a key somewhere on your laptop that resembles this one:



Then, there should be another key on your laptop that has a tiny "-" under the letter. In ffxi, Fn + "-" = menu open. Go to config and change the keyboard style to compact. Fixt.

I have to highly recommend against getting FFXI through torrents. That's just asking for your account to be stolen.

If you desperately need a new install disk for POL, the $4-5 demo disk should suffice.

Even on a weird/old laptop/keyboard that honestly doesn't have a numpad, or if you can't figure out how to activate it, you can always get the main menu with Ctrl or Alt and the regular - key.

Thanks, i'm remaking the list of command hotkeys for the game as i completely forget how to do stuff after 3 years. Left game as 75sum subbing my whm, so am atm trying to rebuild her pet commands, summoning hotkeys, gear swapping, whm baby heals.... still can't rememner how to manualy lock on and unlock on targets, i think it was the * key but it been ages.

My main was the 75 bst. Will have to visit summoner and bst forums for commands.

BTW whats with these chests mobs keep randomly droping in the desert zone off port jueno? I suck at picking them. Anything good ever come fromt hem besides lore no trade no zone items? Mind you the TP wing one was interesting.

As for the vista and player modles looking oddly phantasmic, I'm pretty sure its related the the vid card or drivers as the vista also plays Everquest1 perfectly fine, even better then my Windows XP desktop.

i also need playonline viewer for xp. finally after lots of time (as my dl speed is 12-16kb/s) i managed to dl the trial for ffxi, but the data1 cab from the playonline viewer is corrupted. to dl the whole client again would be a pain, and the only torrent i found with the cab it gives a 3.4kb/s speed, so will take forever for me to dl it, as it has 259mb. can some of u guys pls up this cab to a high speed hosting service like rs or mu for me, so i can at least take it with the huge speed of 16kb/s? pls help me, as i really want to see how the online ff it is, after playing the great singleplayer games.

wow, this is really a quick response. tyvm for ur help, guys. these links are really useful. at least now i'm not in hurry anymore, as some of the reviews found after following ameroth's link really scared me off about the game. for beginning i will dl from saphiera's link, check the game and then decide if to go on or not.
